My guide spoke very good English. He was knowledgeable and very friendly. Great energy! Perhaps a little too chirpy at times, as it would have been nice to just enjoy the scenery etc. but that’s my personal preference. He was flexible with the tour in stopping a little longer at places if needed. Reasonably priced but perhaps could drop a few dollars off for what is included. The salt fields had no salt at the time. And we couldn’t go into the pepper field as it was raining. So that was disappointing. But we had a lovely lunch next to the secret lake! Very tasty.

I was interested in the history of Kampot and booked two tours with Butterfly Tours: the Heritage Walk and a half-day exploring the area’s rural pepper farms and salt fields. Chenda was on time for both tours and customized the tour, allowing me time to take photos and ask tons of questions. He was insightful without being dry and added much to my brief trip to Kampot. While Kampot is easy enough to walk on your own, hearing the stories behind individual buildings made it much more enjoyable.

Touring by bicycle is the best way to see the countryside. I loved this tour and a big part of it was my guide Makara. What a lovely guy! Enthusiastic, smiling and good humored. He was excellent company. Tour is as described but can stop and look at anything you want. It was very interesting to see rural Cambodian life, the farms and homes. Stopped at a excellent restaurant for lunch. The meal there was delicious with lovely view of the secret lake and cute dogs and cats to pet. Ride is very flat but roads are pretty rough in spots. It was pretty hot so be prepared to sweat. Makara ensured we took plenty of breaks in shade and water provided. He was also very aware of my safety. We had interesting conversations and I learned local history and life in Kampot. Returned exhausted dusty and happy. I highly recommend this tour.

I had an absolutely excellent tour with Makara for the whole day -- passing through Salt Farms, Rice fields, a temple in a cave, the Secret Lake, a wonderful lunch at Khmer Root Cafe and finally the pepper farm visit at Bo Tree which was interesting and fun at the same time ! Makara was excellent - explaining each stop and making sure I was hydrated and OK. Good exercise mixed with beautiful countryside. Hope everyone does this tour as it is more authentic and fun than going around on a Tuk Tuk or a bus with many other tourists. Highly recommended if you want an authentic experience with locals !

This tour was excellent and we can’t recommend it enough. We had Chenda as our guide and Makara who was training to be a guide. Butterfly takes on university students and educates them up to be the guides and advocates for Cambodian life. We truly saw this in action. Chenda was fantastic at leading us on the tour but also ensured Makara had his moments to shine. You can do the same tour by tuk tuk but it wouldn’t be the same. The roads are mostly dirt tracks and so the tuk tuks shake you about somewhat. We also got to go even further off the beaten track by choosing to go by bike. All the stops are great and well timed. An early-ish start (8am pick up from your hotel) helps to beat some of the heat. We loved visiting the salt plains, cave temple, secret lake and pepper plantation. Lunch at Khmer Roots cafe overlooking the lake was delicious. Chenda use the full extent of his degree in agriculture and passion for Cambodia to give us a truly memorable experience. We measured the distance as 45km and it’s almost all flat. Admittedly it was slightly tough going at times. Not due to the distance or incline, but due to the heat. However that made it all the more enjoyable and rewarding. Butterfly were very upfront about how hot it would be in March. Both guides made sure we stopped regularly and whenever we wanted to take on water. Plus they both carried extra water for us throughout. You’ll love this wonderful adventure with a brilliant company.

Given how hot it is in Kampot at the moment we opted to do this tour on a Tuk Tuk- making it a half day one. Our guide Chenda was brilliant, knowledgable and his English was fantastic. Our driver for the morning expertly navigated some difficult roads and drove really safely. Our highlights were the cave and the beautiful secret lake! A must do and a great way to explore Kampot 😊

We took a full-day bike tour with Chenda as our guide - absolutely excellent! The bicycles are in good working order - mountain bikes with front shocks. The trip is given for 50km. I can’t say exactly how far we went, but for people moderately in shape, it’s a fun ride - mostly flat with lots of shock-testing potholes 😎 The rhythm is perfect - 5km, then a visit with a longer break at lunch and a longer stretch riding back. The visits are all interesting - salt farm, cave temple and pepper farm (my favorite!). You’re doing a circuit similar to others, but cycling in between - a source of pride when it’s hot out! Lunch was one of the best we’ve had in Cambodia. The tour is a great way to get close to authentic Cambodia. Definitely do this!

We did this tour on a rainy day so it was muddy but lots of fun! The stops were interesting and we got to try local salt and pepper. The landscape was beautiful and our guide very knowledgeable and friendly. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. :) The team at the pepper farm also went above and beyond to make sure our trip was comfortable. We love Butterfly Tours and would recommend them to everyone!

I got lucky because I was the only one to book the tour. I had a very good day with Rethi, the guide, who took me on nice paths to show the countryside of Kampot. The roads were very muddy, but I anyway enjoyed a lot. Butterfly tours company is 100% created and managed by a nice and dynamic Cambodian team. Do not hesitate to contact them if you want to visit Cambodia in a different way. Thanks for everything and good luck to Butterfly Tours !

Me and my boyfriend were abit wary about riding scooters cus of two previous crashes but the guides gave us confidence and we had the most amazing day out. We drove through incredible scenery and rice fields, learnt all about salt plantations and pepper plantations, had some local food and got to know the guide. We loved it so much it was one of our favourite days out of our whole trip and only ten dollars!!! Thank you so much!! Angela and Mark
