Know More about this tour

After meeting your guide, travel towards the historical Churchill Island Farm. Here, take in the picturesque views and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea (own expense) which consists of Devonshire Tea with scones, jam and cream (approximately 1-hour stop).

Arrive at the Koala Conservation Centre and walk along an elevated boardwalk where Koala's are looked after in natural habitats. Watch them as they sleep up in the Eucalyptus trees or peer down at you with a content smile (approximately 20-minute stop).

Next up is in the famous penguin parade. Every evening at sunset, the Little Penguins make their way home from the sea to their burrows on Summerland Beach. Watch as they waddle across the beach right in front of you, an amazing experience best seen from the General Viewing Area. Also enjoy a complimentary drink when you get to the Penguin Parade (time spent at the Penguin Parade does vary depending on when the penguins come out and seasonality).

A dinner stop will be made at The Nobbies in summer or there will be time to get dinner at the Penguin Parade Cafe during winter.

  • This was a real highlight of my trip. I had been looking forward to this and it did not disappoint at all. This tour was operated by Gray Line tours. The trip started with the pick up at the hotel, I thought the pick up timing was a little too early, but appreciate that if there were a lot of pick ups, they would need that kind of time. The hotel pick up was very on time and was great. Along the way we made 2 stops. We stopped at the Koala conservation centre, which I thought was not super exciting. We only spotted a few Koalas. We also stopped at a farm. That was fun and I wished we had a little bit more time, but I understand that because of the colder season, the sun sets earlier and the little penguins came back earlier so we were in a rush. Our bus driver and guide was Rob and he was very good, telling us the history, jokes and just what to expect and tips on where to be. He was very mindful of the time and got us there in good time. Since it was for me a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I decided to splurge to get the VIP tickets. There were just the two of us and we had our own ranger, Claire, who was very enthusiastic and could explain to us the penguins and the entire area. We also got to be in the rangers skybox and helped the ranger do the daily count we only helped a little, most of the time we were just ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the penguins!. I really enjoyed it. The VIP ticket was a little excessive, I think I would still be very happy if I got the penguin plus tickets, but if you really like to ask questions, and know facts, it is really cool talking to the ranger. She was able to point to us the exact spots the penguins liked to gather and explain the work that they did. Besides, the ticket costs goes to the conservation of the place. I do not regret going on this expensive tour at all!

  • Amazing tour! Good value for money too. We actually visited 4 places: first the Churchill Island Heritage farm, then the koala conservation centre, then The Nobbies, then the Penguin Parade. We had a double decker coach, very comfy and plenty of room for everyone. Plus a very knowledgeable guide! If you can help it, try not to go on a cloudy/foggy night. The more fog hanging around the shore, the less penguins you'll see. Thankfully our night was perfect, and we saw THOUSANDS yep, literally of them! Each place was just superb and worth the trip in itself!

  • This tour was excellent. Our driver was very informative and we saw a lot of wallaby before we arrived at the Penquin Grandstands. The little penquins were very interesting.
