Know More about this tour

At the agreed time, your tour guide/driver will pick you up from Zagreb to start the comfortable ride to the national park.

On your way, the first stop will be a visit to the Homeland War memorial in Turanj. The collection is set up on a battlefield of one of the worst fights of the Croatian army which defended Karlovac and proves the importance of Turanj as an advance guard for Karlovac since the period of the Ottoman Empire.

After this intriguing history lesson, enjoy a short stop for coffee in Rastoke. This village represents an excellent introduction to the Plitvice Lakes as this location is often called the 'Small Lakes of Plitvice' because both destinations are connected by the same river. Apart from astonishing natural beauties, Rastoke is best known for its well-preserved mills and little waterfalls along the Slunjica river.

As you arrive at the Plitvice Lakes National Park, your adventure of discovering the whole park area accompanied by your tour guide begins. This park consists of 16 terraced lakes, formed by natural travertine dams. Depending on the angle of the sun's rays and the mineral makeup of the water, lakes change colors throughout the day, from bright turquoise to gray.

After the tour, your tour guide will take you to the local restaurant where you can taste typical dishes of this area. He will gladly make some recommendations for food, drinks or even souvenirs. After the lunch, enjoy your pleasant drive to the final drop off location in Zagreb.

I would recommend this tour, it was an easy way to see the lakes from Zagreb. NB: The lakes are worth seeing but are extremely busy.

The tour guide was on time and the vehicle was comfortable. It was worth what we paid for. Included the hike throughout the lake and a boat ride as well. A great excursion well planned. We were dropped off to where we were picked up from. We really enjoyed.

The lakes were beautiful and our guide, Markus, was great. Beware that there is quite a lot of walking on uneven ground. The pace is slow and plenty of time to see the beautiful landscapes, but wear sturdy shoes. If you enjoy nature, this tour is a must,

The scenery was stunning and Marco was a superb very knowledgeable guide. His english and sense of humour were very good.

Excursion from Zagreb 30 Sept. Sunny and cool day, two hour journey with useful break at rest area WC in 16 passenger Mercedes shuttle bus. Guide Marko was awesome describing history, geography, geology, ecology and Croatian culture. Rastoke was a beautiful village where rivers converged - the short riverwalk showcased multiple small waterfalls in a charming setting with a WC at the end. Marko continued his captivating narrative as we headed into the mountains and answered myriad questions with patience and amusing stories.
Marko handled our group tickets and herded us to a park bus which took us to the top of the park. During the walk around the lakes, Marko stopped periodically to share more details of what we were seeing. The path was crowded but the descent from the upper lakes to lower was manageable- about three hours of walking, not hiking. Marko frequently offered to take pictures of us rather than selfies.
The bus met us at the terminus after the visit to the WC again.

After leaving the park we drove to a roadside restaurant and Marko recommended traditional menu choices and local beer. The prices were modest. After dinner, some on the tour changed vehicles to a tour bus heading to Split, we returned to Zagreb tired but pleased by a dynamic tour guide Marko and the fair weather. Our gratuity to him was well-deserved.

I could make this review really short, and say that Plitvice is stunning, and well worth a visit.
    It is, and it is.
But that would be selling it short. It's more a kind of stunningly beautiful that verges on a word that I detest due to overuse. That word is awesome.
It's almost too beautiful to accept that it's natural, hence the Disney title. But unlike anything touched by the House of Mouse it is totally non artificial, nature at her jaw dropping best.
It could be that we got it on a good day, certainly the sun was shining and the water was more shades of blue and green than I think I was aware existed hitherto this trip.
Look... I'll spare you further hyperbole, just go. You'll likely be glad you did.
Special mention to Marko, our guide, who despite doing this every day still managed to be engaging, informative and still retained an attitude that didn't make you think he was bored with the whole thing.
Restaurant lunch stop... meh. Really wasn't anything special, some poor sheep died to provide a decidedly lacklustre meal. But overall, whose caring? If you're going for natural beauty, then that's what you'll get.
    Enjoy.

The day ran so smoothly. We had an amazing informative guide who took us on the trip. The trip was really worthwhile. Beautiful lakes (out of this world in fact), beautiful lunch, our guide knew ways of beating the crowds, all in all a really good day and highly recommended.

Very well organized. The tour leader provided good information and was very personable. If you have extra time, an extra day or two would enable you to enjoy the additional trails. It is very relaxing walking on the trails

    Amazing!

    The Good:
    - Milan, our guide was very knowledgeable and kept our group of 17 moving through the park at a reasonable pace that allowed us to see everything. He shared much with us about the Plitvice Lakes national park, Croatian history, and answered all our questions about both. It was great that he had us go through the park backwards opposite direction from most other tour groups which really helped us avoid some of the crowds and the long line for the boat trip between the upper and lower lakes.
    - I'm not an outdoorsy person but this is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. The different colors are absolutely stunning, as is the landscape surrounding the lakes.
    - We had good weather - were there in mid-August when it was very warm but it wasn't oppressive or too hot for our hike/walk around the lakes.
    - The guide picks up your entrance tickets when you arrive at the park so you don't have to wait in the very long line with all the other people who don't have them prearranged.
    - Good value for money.
    - Very convenient booking, especially where it asks you where you are staying. They emailed me the day before the tour to re-confirm and specify where and what time we would be picked up for our tour.

    Things to Know:
    - This is more of a hike than a leisurely walk. Wear close-toed shoes. Ideally sneakers or sturdier. There were a few folks in our group who weren't prepared footwear-wise for 4 hours of walking up, down, and around the park.
    - This is NOT a tour for small children. I'd recommend 8 years old. There is a lot of walking and you cannot bring a stroller pram on the wooden walkways.
    - This tour is combined with other groups who are traveling to/from Spit or Zagreb. Some folks on your bus will be transferring to another vehicle after the late lunch stop and continuing on to their destination. This isn't a problem or anything, just FYI.
    - Bring water - you'll need it.
    - I wasn't very interested in the Rastoke stop when first reading about it but am glad I saw it. It's really pretty and is a good appetizer to the main course of the park.
    - When they say it's an all-day tour they mean all day. We were picked up from our hotel at 7:45 am and got back around 8:30 pm.
    - Listen to your guide! Follow his/her instructions and advice and you'll be sure to have a great time. Shame anyone in your group who isn't listening to the guide. You don't want them to ruin the trip for everyone.
    - Bring a camera, obviously.
