Overview

Here is how your Pompeii And Amalfi Coast Day Trip From Naples will start -

The tour manager will meet you by the nearest pick-up point to your accommodation between 08:00 and 09:00 am (see timetable) and this tour will last approximately 8 hours in total. Head to Pompeii which was a town that disappeared from the maps and from people's memories as it got completely buried under the ashes erupted by the volcano in 79 AD. These ruins give an incredible picture of ancient Roman's daily life and their original urban setting: homes, shops, frescoes, thermal baths, mosaics and much more.

Included in this tour there is a stop to a Cameos and Corals workshop, to learn more about this ancient art-craft, for which the Neapolitan school is still considered of great importance. Cameos, in particular, are carved sea shells representing scenes of mythological deities.

Continue the tour to the Amalfi drive and pass by a number of small villages nestled in the rocks and considered amongst the prettiest in the Mediterranean. You can also check some of the most popular products here including the Limoncello liqueur; the colorful ceramic art-crafts from the traditional school of Vietri and the famous CartadAmalfi, an exclusive type of paper made out of cloths (linen, cotton, and hemp). All these items are sold by the many shops available in Amalfi.

During the road trip, the driver will stop one or two times to the nicest spots to let you enjoy the view and take pictures. In Amalfi, you will have some time on your own to stroll around and do your favorite activities, such as shopping, or simply relax by sipping a cappuccino or else. Positano will be seen from the top, for it would take a few hours just to visit this village, located at the bottom of the hill and only accessible on foot.

    A great day out with interesting history in Pompeii and amazing scenery in Amalfi. Our guide and driver were excellent. A nice contrast to staying in Naples.

    The trip was changed to Pompeii and Herculaneum because of the weather. The guides were excellent and we learned how advanced these two thousand year old cities were at the time of their demise. There’s a lot of walking and little shade, so be prepared.

    Do not book with this company unless you would like to be scammed. Less than 24 hours before we were supposed to take this trip and therefore too late to cancel for a refund per Viator's policies, someone reached out and told us that there were supposedly strikes at Pompeii and we would have to switch trips and instead take a bus tour of *just* the Amalfi Coast. After checking with two other companies, and reading the news and checking online forums, no other source said there would be a strike at Pompeii. And in fact, there were indeed no strikes and we were able to see Pompeii on the day we intended to. When I responded to this company, saying that we would like to cancel our trip and receive a refund, since I was no longer receiving at least half of the service I was paying for (the trip to Pompeii), they told us that a refund would not be possible. After multiple messages back and forth, they would not actually confirm that we would be able to go on the trip to Pompeii but also would not give us a refund. We felt extremely uncomfortable getting on a bus for 8 hours with a company that was so untrustworthy and did not go. Viator was also extremely unhelpful in resolving this issue for us. If you are interested in seeing Pompeii, save your money and go to Pompeii yourself. It is a cheap, fast, and easy bus or train ride out there and you can find guides at the site or walk around by yourself.

    The first part of the tour went well, pick up was ok. The Pompeii tour was excellent, the guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out many things we would not have seen on our own. The food was fine, there was a choice of pizza or pasta and both were reasonable. Unfortunately the Amalfi Coast part to the tour was very disappointing and not as advertised. We were expecting a guided tour with commentary on route and a couple of stops. Instead we were driven in silence straight to Amalfi, had our free time, and then were taken back on exactly the same route by a rude driver. The car was not suitable as the a/c did not work effectively whenever we were going uphill as the car could not manage both so the journey was very hot. We were disappointed as we selected this tour based on reviews but it clearly is entirely dependent on which guide you get. We felt like it was just a taxi to and from Amalfi, not the guided tour as advertised. When I and the other group on the tour questioned why we had not completed the correct route he told us we were wrong and if we had an issue we needed to speak to the tour company as it wasn’t his problem. I contacted Napoli City Vision after the tour to express my disappointment that we did not follow the advertised route but I received no response. There are lots of choices of tour companies so my advice would be to choose a different one.

    Tour around Pompeii was amazing, the guides were helpful and friendly, however remember to bring cash otherwise you have to get in a long queue. Riccardo our driver to the Amalfi Coast was lovely! Really kind and helpful, 10/10 would recommend!

    Our guide Rosa was exceptional, both funny and informative fluent in Italian, Spanish and English. Equally as impressive were the driving skills of Carmela especially on the coastal roads. The tour of Pompeii was well executed both informative and impressive, even though my battery on my headphone died I still enjoyed it. The lunch was average and I felt we spent too long in the restaurant also the singer was annoying. Maybe we could have had a bit more time at the gift shop or stalls surrounding Pompeii. The trip to Amalfi was short but the scenic drive was outstandingly beautiful. All together a great tour value for money and I would highly recommend.
