Let me start to say that tour on itself was amazing, we had great hosts both on the boat and to Pompeii/Vesuvius, nice people that were total professionals and showed us a great time, the climb on Vesuvius was a bit more challenging than we expected and Pompeii has a particular charm but both were nice destinations, 5-star material.. however
What the tour forgets to mention is that the trip is being organized from Sorento, and that transportation from Capri to Sorento is definitely not a 5-star experience. In the morning we were greeted by a tiny “boat” that would transfer us, this trip was fast and rough and way more adventure than I’m ready for at 08:20 but we survived and the adrenaline worked better than the coffee we managed to keep down. It was about half an hour and mostly on open water between the coasts.
The way back was less fun though, they forgot our transfer so we had to wait an hour while they arranged something, after a long day of hiking and strolling i was a bit annoyed to see the same rowboat size vessel coming back, however this time there were already 5 people on board so we managed to hold on for dear life on the “sundeck”, the sea was a bit more choppy this time so every bump meant a strong impact that shook us around, I felt not very safe but any of my comments to slow down were easily ignored by our arrogant driver in the typical way you really start to hate after staying in Italy for a couple of days. After some of the people left we actually got some seats but with a rough sea the last 20 minutes were not much more comfortable, i left with a sore back. We paid 250+ euro for this and them I’m expecting more than two long and uncomfortable rides in a dinghy.
Either be more clear about this “feature” when booking it and let the driver provide a more comfortable ride or just provide a decent transport option, there are normal transport services that would completely fix this, i feel they cheap out to offer the same tour also from Capri but the whole deal leaves a very bed taste after a nice day.
