Travel by high-speed train between Rome and Naples, enjoy coach transport to and from Pompeii, and take a 2-hour walking tour of the site with a guide. Know More about this tour

Meet a host at Rome Termini station to receive your train tickets. Then, hop aboard your high-speed train to Naples Central Station, where you arrive after just an hour. Meet your local guide as you leave the train, and swap your mode of transport to an air-conditioned coach for the short shuttle to Pompeii.

On arrival at the site, head straight inside the ruins with your skip-the-line ticket, and learn about the site — past and present — from your guide. Easily one of the world’s most famous digs, Pompeii holds a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage list for its incredibly preserved ruins — the entire town was frozen beneath a sea of volcanic pumice stone and ash for centuries.

Explore streets flanked with monuments, fossils and ruins, and see the sights that offer an insight into life in a bustling ancient town. A highlight is your visit to a domus, which would have once been the dwelling of an upper-class Roman family. See how Pompeii’s most influential people would have lived, and admire the vivid frescoes of gods, beasts and landscapes that bedeck the different rooms.

When your 2-hour tour ends, take a break to enjoy a cup of coffee at your own expense, or perhaps shop for souvenirs at the site’s gift shop. Then, return to the prearranged point to reboard your coach, and travel back to Naples. Finally, board your train to finish your experience at Rome Termini station in the early afternoon.

  • Pompeii was amazing, such a great place to walk around. So full of history, highly recommended..

  • You wouldn't think that this would be a worthwhile length of time for a tour to Pompeii. But it is. You meet your guide outside the Rome Termini station and the trip is explained and you are guided onto the train. The very high speed train, which only takes 70 minutes to take you to Naples, where you are met by another guide and taken to a bus to Pompeii, then introduced to an onsite guide who takes you round Pompeii for two hours. Then you get time to eat and buy souvenirs and then you are taken back to the bus and back to Naples where you are put on the train back to Rome. Unless you are a student particularly studying Pompeii in which case you would be staying there this is a fine tour. Take water and sunscreen and a hat.

  • The instructions on where to meet were a bit confusing for us and our Uber Driver did not drop us off at the proper meeting place. After several phone calls, we finally met the group....but it was extremely stressful. Other than that, the tour was great. The train ride and bus ride were so worth it getting from Rome to Pompeii. And the tour was perfect. I wish we could have spent more time there but I believe we saw the highlights. It was summer time so the crowds were crazy. And it was extremely hot. If you go in August, I suggest you bring a hat and lots of water. At the end of the tour, we were given free time. My family enjoyed lunch at the restaurant at the enterance. Perfect amount of time.

  • Really enjoyed this tour. The train ride was smooth and comfortable. The Pompeii tour was outstanding. The tour guide had us all wear headsets so we could all hear him perfectly. He was very knowledgeable and really made Pompeii come alive. We returned to Rome in time to get on the hop on hop off bus right at the train station and tour around the city.

  • In spite of the heat, perhaps one of the best days we had in Italy. Having no preconceived notions, we found the experience fascinating. There was so much to learn and the material was presented in such a way that everyone in the small group was interested.

  • Pompeii was a city rich in history. I loved seeing it and being amongst the ruins. I did feel that this tour was overpriced for the experience provided by the tour itself. It was my least favorite of all the tours I took because I felt rushed to the point where you could not take pictures and the flow of information felt disconnected. I would still go to Pompeii however I would do it by myself and take the train. It would have saved me a lot of money and I would have been able to at least feel like i could enjoy the city. There are self guided tours available. I was disappointed. I went July 2016. I was with three people and we all felt the same. Lesson learned.

  • This tour was very exciting, informative, and personal. We had an AMAZING time with our guide and truly learned a lot from our experience. I would recommend this tour and this guide to anyone who plans to travel to this area of Europe. The tour was well-worth the money, and I will definitely book this tour or a similar tour the next time I travel!

  • Fast and smooth. Tour company did a great job. Walked us to train, had our tickets for use, and transportation at Naples then back to Pompeii. Pompeii tour was great! Worth it!

  • Excellent guides very knowledgable looked after the group.Train was great would highly recommend this tour .

  • We enjoyed this tour a lot. It was nice to take the train, so we got there really fast. Everything was on schedule and the guide was great. This is the best way to see and learn about Pompeii!!!
