Pompeii was an ancient Roman city near modern Naples in the Campania region of Italy, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area (e.g. at Boscoreale, Stabiae), was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Volcanic ash typically buried inhabitants who did not escape the lethal effects of the earthquake and eruption.

We explored our options for seeing Pompei while visiting Rome (including taking the train), and this tour proved to be a great value. The convenience of being driven to the site in an air conditioned bus, have a great tour guide in Pompei itself (2 hours packed with information and at times entertainment), seeing Naples and having lunch on the way (included) was AMAZING and well worth it. Guillermo (our main tour guide) was very helpful and knowledgeable along the way. In Pompeii we had a local guide. The entire operation is very well organized and we highly recommend it.

The tour was great of course. Recommend to move to morning due to heat. Do tour of Pompeii first then Naples.
-
Enjoyable day. Guides were good. More time in Pompeii would be nice. Drive around Naples was good but I’d be happy if it was shorter and Pompeii was longer
-
Very informative. Learned about ancient Roman culture and how volcanic eruption destroyed a part of civilization.
-
The experience was amazing. It was stepping back in time. Before Christ in Italy Pompeii. The tour guides were engaging.
-
The Staff was very hopeful and friendly. The tourist guide was great and asked all our questions about the City of Pompeii.
-
Amazing place, much bigger than I expected, our guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Only wish we had more time to explore.
-
This was a fascinating tour. Alessandria was very knowledgeable, more so than other guides we had in Italy or elsewhere. She put everything in its historical context. She was also very aware of our need to stand in shade and refill our water on a hot, hot day. Overall a great experience
-
Knowlegable Guide and very well organizied. We were in awe of this faboulous site. To save time, I would eliminate the Naples portion of the tour.

The tour guide gave a lot of interesting information and even threw in a tour through Napoli. I Love Rome really made our vacation unforgettable! I strongly recommend checking them out.
