Know More about this tour

Begin your private tour limited to six people with pickup at your hotel in a luxury Land Rover Discovery.

Your driver will arrive at an agreed time for the drive to Padstow. This bustling fishing port has a great choice of shops in its narrow streets, a busy harbor where you can take a ride on a speedboat, and great views of the estuary and beaches from the headland walk. Celebrity Chef Rick Stein has a number of restaurants in the town, plus his own fish and chip shop. Make sure to taste the Chough's Bakery Cornish Pasty.

Then take the short drive to Port Isaac. This tiny fishing village has found fame as Port Wenn in the BBC TV series Doc Martin, and fans of the show will feel they know the village already. There is an excellent fish restaurant here, and it's also the home of Shanty singers the Fisherman's Friends who mostly live and work in the village. They often give free concerts on the slipway known as The Platt on a Friday evening, but dates vary. The village is a delight to see in any event, but it's a pretty stiff climb back up the hill.

Next, travel up the dramatic coast to Tintagel to visit the remains of the 800-year-old castle, where you can imagine being a Knight of King Arthur's Round Table. Spectacular is the only description for the coastal scenery in this area. Time permitting, you'll continue to Boscastle, a charming coastal village, and stop for a cream tea before returning to your hotel.

Please note: The tour is available to all, but there are some steep hills to negotiate on foot, particularly at Port Isaac. Some elements of the Tintagel tour may not be suitable for all as the castle is only accessible by a narrow high Bridge, nevertheless there are many other sights to see.

My husband and I spent a busy, informative and fun day with Kimberly. She was flexible and interested in tailoring the tour to our specific interests. Our original tour was booked with James who had many favorable reviews. At first we were disappointed. However, any disappointment we experienced quickly was dispelled. Kimberly’s grasp of history was excellent and she provided us with insights into the present day. Our time with her flew by. We would highly recommend taking the tour with her. She is an outstanding guide.

This was a full day private tour with a delightful gentleman. James is a retired government worker with a great sense of humor and a wealth of information about Cornwall. He was an ideal companion for the day, and we enjoyed every minute of the experience. He picked us up promptly at our hotel, and took us to a number of sites including the Bedruthan steps, Padstow, Port Isaac, St. Kew site of a great pub and a church that Cromwell missed when destroying all the stained glass windows that depicted saints, Tintagel, and, perhaps best of all, the town of Boscastle, a charming village and site of a major flood disaster in 2004. Every vista was stunning, and every site was worth the time we did not walk out to Tintagel itself on his advice, as there really isn't much to see but a few old walls. The view from the church overlooking Tintagel was good enough. He told us most of his customers who actually walked out to the castle were disappointed
Can't recommend James highly enough. Wed have done many guided tours in Europe and his was among the best.

We highly recommend this tour company. Our guide, James Coulton owner, was fantastic and so knowledgeable of the area. He was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. He picked us up at our rental house and tailored the tour to our interests. timeframe, and physical requirements. We spent the day in the northern Cornwall touring Watergate Bay, Carnewas and Bedruithan Steps, Padstow, Port Issac, Tintagel, and Boscastle. It was a perfect day and the views were gorgeous. They were filming the next season of Doc Martin at Port Issac while we were there. We stopped at the St Kew Inn for a delicious lunch and had afternoon tea and scones with jam and clotted cream in Boscastle. It was great fun talking to James about the area and getting to know him. We had a wonderful time and this tour of northern Cornwall definitely exceeded our expectations.

A great tour with a super guide. Walked along that spectacular coast in several locations. This was our second day with James. He is a great guide and driver...very knowledgeable, pleasant, considerate. He saw to it that we got a taste of Cornwall...pasties, cream teas, saffron buns, music The Fisherman's Friends and Show of Hands. Loved it all, but especially Port Isaac/Portwenn.
