Porto Cathedral, like the first band of city walls, was born in the 12th century by initiative of its first bishop, D. Hugo. The temple is also known as the church of Santa Maria do Porto, de Nossa Senhora do Porto da Eterna Salvação or Nossa Senhora da Vandoma – which attests to the importance the Marian cult has.Our guide will introduce you to Porto and Portugal history and will explain the archictecture of the building from the exterior and show you incredible views of the river and the wine cellars in Gaia.
The S. Bento Railway Station was built at the beginning of the twentieth century on the exact location of the former Convent of S. Bento de Avé-Maria. The glass and iron structure was designed by the architect Marques da Silva. The vestibule is adorned with twenty thousand tiles painted by Jorge Colaço that illustrate the transport evolution and events of Portuguese history and life. Our guide will explain you the Portuguese history ilustrated on those titles
The Historic Centre of Porto, the oldest area of the city and classified as World Heritage by UNESCO since 1996, is comprised of the civil parishes of Sé, Vitória, São Nicolau and Miragaia (including the Porto Wine Lodges). Dating back to Mediaeval times, and despite all the changes over the years, the Historic Centre of Porto maintains its unique urban characteristics, which are a world apart from other European cities. We will now take you on a panoramic tour through the typical streets in this part of the city, where you'll notice various monuments of incalculable cultural wealth and value, as though time had stood still in the Middle Ages!
The building where the library is now located was inaugurated in 1906. Special mention goes to its beautiful Art Nouveau façade with neo-Gothic details. On the inside, the library is decorated in painted plaster imitating wood and presents a magnificent staircase linking it to the upper floor - one of the first reinforced concrete works in Porto
Genuine baroque work by Nicolau Nasoni, an ex-libris monument of the city of Porto. The Church of Clérigos (Ecclesiastics) is a genuine baroque masterpiece dating from the mid-18th century. It was designed by Nicolau Nasoni, an architect of Italian origin. He stamped his mark on many monuments around Oporto and the north of Portugal. Nasoni, on his request, was buried here in a small chapel with its gateway at the same level as the top of the double bolster stairway.
Now its time to discover the Port Wine Lodges at Vila Nova de GaiaPort wine is born in the valley of the River Douro, but it is beside the city that gave it its name that it ages and gains the flavour that makes it quite unmistakable. The river has always been used to transport the wine barrels to the quays of Vila Nova de Gaia, where the lodges are clustered in which the wine ages before being marketed worldwide. You will get a Guided visit to a renown Port Wine Lodge in Gaia, getting to know the history and process of production of this unique wine. Facing the Atlantic you'll be struck by an incredible quality of life, the utmost romantic walks where every evening sun and sea merge into one spectacular climax. These beaches proudly display the blue flag eco-label, a sign of high quality unpolluted seawater. Take a stroll under the "Pergola da Foz" built in the 1930s. As the story goes, the Mayor of Porto’s wife at the time, had been so enchanted by the pergola of the "Promenade des Anglais » in the French town of Nice that she simply had to have the same in Porto. Here it is called the "Praia dos Ingleses" a reminder that the English (and other British citizens!) have always enjoyed a close relationship with Portugal.
One of Oporto’s leading cultural venues, designed by the architect, Rem Koolhaas. In the Rotunda da Boavista roundabout, half way between the historic centre centre and the Foz zone, we encounter a large-scale, daringly original building that is sure to catch anyone’s attention: the Casa da Música or “House of Music”. The building was designed by the distinguished Dutch architect and urbanist, Rem Koolhaas and was conceived in order to cater to an innovative cultural project of Porto 2001-European Capital of Culture.
We'll end our tour discovering the modern part of the city. Boavista area, with the impressive Casa da Musica building, the biggest avenue that has the name of the area and the city park. Really enjoyed the trip. Great food, scenery and the guides were very helpful and friendly. Jessica was our guide and Dario the driver.

We had a fun day out with Carlos our guide for the day. City tour was pleasant and Carlos was full of knowledge. The cruise was lovely. However the staff at lunch were not very friendly and quite abrupt. It wasn't wine tasting but port tasting which we made fun as there was 8 of us and another couple joined on with us. This was tedious as we had to wait ages One thing misleading about the tour is that it says a small group but there was around 20 of us and we booked English speaking but there were different nationalities so Carlis spent alot of time translating same information which meant everyone had to wait and so we ran out of time to take scenic photos. This was disappointing.

The guide, Daniele, was very good and knowledgeable of the history and sights of Porto. Used a microphone in the van which helped in clearly hearing the information he was sharing with us. Porto wine tasting as well as eating a francesinha was very nice.

Nice mix of driving, walking and boat. Good for first day on your trip to get idea of what to go back to see on your own

I have done many half & full day tours in many countries, this is easily one of the best. We were lucky to have Carolina as guide & Manuel as driver, both were exceptional. Biggest surprise was the quality of the lunch. Unlike most tours this was a full lunch, unlimited wine on the table, exceptional service, followed by a comprehensive tour of the cellar. Boat trip was good, 2nd wine tasting excellent. Stop in at Amarante was a bonus, a lovely town. Well done, able to strongly recommend the tour.

Well organized tour we were about 20 guests. Comfortable min bus with good air-conditioning. Didn't feel rushed in any of our stop which gave us time on our own. Carlos was our guide who was great, very knowledgeable and easy going . Did tour in english & spanish. Lunch was good.

Immersion into the history of Porto and seeing the location of buildings that we wanted to visit after the tour was a time saver. The boat excursion to see the six bridges was great, but he audio quality needed improvement since it was difficult to hear. The stops provided ample time to disembark and take photos or visit the area.

Amazing tour! We had a great overview of the city and felt very complete after the tour. I felt very knowledgeable after completing the tour and with our 2.5 days there, it made the rest of the time open to hit up any other side plans. Rafelela did a ROCKSTAR job and Jorge took care of the ride for the day. Loved it!

Carlos was a very nice, friendly and knowledgeable guide on the bus tour. He explained everything very well to us and had the patience to answer questions in a good way. He took care of all his guests on the bus and went out of the way to make sure the group stayed together, even in the face of challenges. Marcia was the bus driver and also was very friendly and nice. I highly recommend Carlos, Marcia and their travel company for a Porto city tour. You will not be disappointed.

We did the Porto small group city tour with the Lunch, Wine Tasting, and Cruise. The city tour part was our least favorite. We spent far too much time in the Train Station and I would have rather spent time inside the Cathedral or allowed some limited time to opt to go into it. We spend 45 minutes at the train station because our group had English and Portugese speakers. The guide had to do everything twice for the 3 people that did not speak English. I wish a seperate tour was provided in the other langauge to help all of us. The guide did his best to accomodate but this made everything feel very slow and long and we would have liked to see more. The train station does not need 45 minutes and only a short time at the Cathedral. He also had to repeat everything twice while we were on the bus. The lunch was wonderful and the wine tasting was okay (not our thing). The Cruise was our favorite part and I think everyone should do the 6 bridge cruise to be able to see the beauty that Porto is. Overall, we had a nice day and it was good for our group of 8 to see a lot of Porto.
