Know More about this tour

Stroll around the Dutch Quarter, an ensemble of red-brick buildings that is unique in Europe. The infamous 'Soldier King', Frederick William I, (renowned for the giant men he collected for his showcase military regiments), had the houses built in the middle of the 18th century to accommodate Potsdam's new community of Dutch artisans.

See the stunning Sanssouci Palace, favorite residence of Frederick the Great, which is set in beautiful parkland scattered with temples, churches and follies.

After crossing the Glienicke 'spy swapping' Bridge, we visit Cecilienhof, the manorial residence of Germany's last Crown Prince, which was used to host the Potsdam Conference in 1945. We describe the discussions that took place between Churchill, Truman and Stalin, which were to seal the fate of Cold War Europe for the next half century.

  • An excellent tour. Lunch was a little rushed, but otherwise the day was lovely.

  • This is an outstanding tour. Our tour guide was amazing! He had many issues to deal with in our group, some of the people were elderly and couldn't keep up so he offered them an alternative way to meet up with us that was easier and quicker. This is a long walking tour, so be sure you want to walk! It is very informative and you see a lot of things. We enjoyed it immensely. I think our tour time total was 11 hours, so make sure you understand that going in. We are happy we took it. Cal and Kathy

  • i was most impressed with our tour guide Michael., His knowledge and enthusiasm was fantastic. would highly recommend this mwalking tour and hopefully you get Michael as your guide.

  • We took the 6 hour Potsdam tour with a great Irish guide who showed us the many sights of Potsdam and ending the last hour at Sansousi Palace. I would encourage everyone to stay at the Sanssouci Palace and take an audio guided tour which takes about an hour. The Palace tour is not included in the Potsdam Tour and reservations must be made in advance to tour the interior of the Palace. The Palace and grounds are everything you imagined in a King's home and grounds. It's easy to find your way back to Berlin by yourself but you will need a ABC ticket for the train. Potsdam was the highlight of our Berlin adventure.

  • Maria was a superb tour guide - extremely knowledgeable about Potsdam and German history, witty, and patient with an age-diverse clientele. This is a six-hour excursion, so wear comfortable shows, bring water, and snacks there is a half-hour lunch break. And take pictures!

  • Michael was an excellent guide. He certainly knows his stuff.

  • Excellent tour with an excellent guide, Maria.

  • Don't waste your time trying to do this tour on your own. It was an amazing day and there is so much to learn from going with a guide who can share all of their insights and stories. We had an amazing day and so glad that we did this tour. Worth every cent!

  • Our guide was a wealth of information about the town of Potsdam, different eras of history, German history, in general which I knew little about, as well as navigating on various public transportation which would have been hard for me to fully figure out myself.
He had a binder with helpful photos and documents to support his interesting narrative.
I'm very happy to have done this trip.

  • JJ was an excellent guide. We took public transport together - trains and trams and buses - to get to Potsdam and the various places of interest. JJ knew his history and it was a very interesting tour.
