Know More about this tour

Meet your guide in central Prague and set out on your 3-hour walking tour of Pragues Castle and Castle District. Perched above the Vltava River, this vast complex is the worlds largest ancient castle and was once the seat of Bohemias kings, Holy Roman Emperors and Czechoslovakias presidents.

First, stroll across the Vltava River and absorb the views of its bridges as your guide gives you a fascinating rundown of Pragues history and major landmarks.

Across the river, make your way into Mal Strana, the Baroque district set below the castle walls. Amble down the cobbled streets and stop for photos at Mals 18th-century St Nicholas Church and World War II memorial.

Next, ride a tram up to the castle and enter via the North Gate, crossing the Royal Gardens and Powder Bridge into stately Hradany Square. Admire the Schwarzenberg Palace and statue to Czechoslovakias first president, Tomas Masaryks, in the square, and then walk into the Second Courtyard.

Feel the power of the former Hapsburg Empire in this neoclassical courtyard, and then enter the stunning Third Courtyard, home to the mighty St Vitus Cathedral.

Head inside with your guide to see the majestic interior of the cathedral one of Europes largest and then continue past the Golden Gate, Vladislav Hall and St Georges Basilica to Golden Lane, a cobbled street of cottages that once housed castle archers, artisans and goldsmiths.

Dip inside some of the 11 cottages, some converted into tiny boutique shops, and some styled to recreate medieval life, and hear how Czech writer Franz Kafka lived here between 1916 and 1917.

Leave the castle near the Eastern Black Tower and admire the city views from the hillside. Your tour then ends here or at Charles Bridge when you bid farewell to your guide.

  • This tour was amazing. Our tour guide was a local, and she was so passionate about sharing her knowledge of the castle. I would highly recommend this tour, you learn so much more going with a guide than exploring on your own.

  • There were so many people that I had a hard time hearing the information. I also felt the tour was a bit rushed because of the Castle's closing hours.

  • Ryan was our tour guide and he was absolutely amazing! He was full of all kinds of facts and trivia making it one of the best tours we booked in Europe!!!

  • This was a fantastic tour, very informative

  • I went to this tour starting off at the Rudolfinum and right off the bat I thought that it was disorganized people was running around and changing tour languages left and right including myself. Our tour guide was Klara a young woman that spoke so rapidly that I couldn't keep up with her and she was talking in my native language. After a few blocks everybody was making comments about how fast she was going. Finally we stopped at the beginning of Charles Bridge and she said the bridge is packed I' m putting up my umbrella and we all starting walking and suddenly she disappeared I told my wife stay here and I rushed looking for her to no avail walked the bridge up and down with no luck whatsoever. Ladies and gents this took place in a heart beat. I neve saw her again, We still don't believed what had happened. So we lost that tour

  • My partner and I did the Prague castle tour and loved it.
Our tour guide Katerina was fantastic. Her knowledge base about Prague is very impressive and her funny delivery made it avert enjoyable tour. She even showed us through the beautiful senate gardens at the end of our tour.
    Throughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks Katerina

  • My favorite tour during the whole trip. Our guide, Jeremy, was amazing and really funny. Because his stories were more about the people associated to Prague Castle and the area, he gave his stories a sort of humanity to them.

My only problem with the tour was that the directions we received on how to find our guide were very poor. Unlike the Ghost Tour we did, where the instructions were very detailed, this only mentioned in front of the Rudolphinum. Something to change in the future, perhaps?

  • But just know that you have to buy the tram tickets separately at the subway station across the street and make sure you have enough crowns to do it. Brandon was a great guide, very entertaining and fun.

  • Enjoyed the tour and the guide was knowledgeable. However, be aware that you do not go inside any of the buildings.

  • we did the Sandemans free walking tour in the morning and the castle tour in afternoon. Both were excellent. Be ready to walk a fair way.
