Know More about this tour

Meet your guide in the early evening in central Prague and start your 4-hour beer tour. As you walk to your first stop, learn how much the Czech Republic loves beer, with the average Czech downing around 40 gallons (152 liters) of pivo each year — the highest beer consumption per head in the world.

Through the evening, visit three bars or pubs popular with locals, and enjoy three different beers on the house — pilsners or ales of different flavors — with a complimentary glass of each variety.

As you drink, get to know your fellow beer-tasters, discover how the Czechs invented pilsner in the 19th century, and pick your guide’s brains on such pressing questions as why the Czechs love beers with foamy heads, and the difference between pasteurized and non-pasteurized Czech beers.

Buy additional beers when you want (own expense) and as your bar-hopping continues, learn the all-important Czech toast of an enthusiastic ‘na zdraví’ or ‘cheers’ before you sip on your brew.

Grab the chance to sample some traditional Czech food (own expense), such as guláš (meat and vegetable stew) and koleno (pork knuckle) as your tour continues, and enjoy deciding on your own — and your group's — favorite beer at the end.

At your last stop, act like a true local by by enjoying one or two of the popular local spirits (own expense) recommended to you by your guide.

Your experience ends at the third bar, leaving you free to return to your hotel independently or continue your night on the town.

  • We all met at the main square on a kind of blustery afternoon and took off on the walking tour of several local breweries. We first had to go to a bar/restaurant to head upstairs so we'd be split up into groups and assigned to several different guides. Our guide was a really great young man from South America who is studying in Prague. Very knowlegeable about the different types of beer and the lore about them so we got a lot of good information whenever we did stop for beer. We had a 'natural' unpasturized beer that was really good and several others at other places that were also different and good. The tour is a bit 'off the cuff'..some of the places did not seem prepared for our group and we did a lot of quick walking between places so it was a bit trying to keep up so as not to lose the crowd, etc. I would have liked a bit less hurry between stops and a bit more beer time once we got there. Also..at the end of the tour you just kinda have to find your way back to wherever you are going in the crowded streets after dark. Would have preferred to have one place to start and finish. But.. we had a good time and it was interesting. Who knew that their 'green beer' is due to hops pellets and not food color?

  • It was a huge group of other tourists that went on the tour and drinking night with our guide, Jana. We were to have two more people go with us, but one of our group hadn't arrived from the airport yet. This was very worrisome, and into the evening, Jana offered to help by calling on her local phone to our hotel. She was very sweet to us, as we couldn't hail him on his cell phone. Since we paid for 4, and only 2 could take the tour with her...she gave us beer to go and a long note explaining the different types which he thought was so sweet...and he LOVED the beer!!

The tour was so very interesting! The local Czech beer is soooo very good! And I am originally from Wisconsin, so I have drank a BUNCH of beer in my life!!

Great tour! Especially if you are lucky enough to get Jana as a guide! Naz draveen or however you spell it! to this tour and Jana!!

  • There were so many people on this event that it had to be split into two separate groups. To do this we were taken from a meeting point to a bar where the group thought that we were going to get the first drink, instead we were kept waiting for 20 minutes while some paperwork was completed and then we were taken off again to a completely different place for the first drink. The tour was supposed to start at 7pm but the first hour was wasted and in fact in really started at more like 8pm. Having said all of that, the tour guide Jana was excellent and made a lot of effort to make the tour work for people with a lot of history and useful information.

  • This was a fun evening as a way to end our trip in Prague. Elaine was a great guide -- truly funny and friendly. We met a nice group of other tourists from around the world and tried some excellent beer! It would have great to have a few more bar snacks.

  • This tour was really more of a chill bar crawl with a few bits about beer and Czech culture mixed in. It was a great opportunity to meet other travelers over a few drinks and hang out. I would take the tour again if I was in town.

  • We decided to go on a beer tour because my husband was working during the day and had a conference call later, so it fit right in the middle. Plus, it just sounded like it might be fun. Our guide was Elaine from Derry, Ireland --- a warm, funny and welcoming person. We apparently were her biggest group at 22 people and everyone just hung out, drank beers at different pubs that we walked to with Elaine and got to know one another. This tour was so much better than the 1/2 day city/river tour we took the next day with another company. It's not that the city is boring, but our guide certainly was cold and warmed up very pointedly at the end when asking for tips and good reviews on TripAdvisor.

So, if you like beer or even if you only sort of like beer, this tour was totally worth it because it is fun and you meet people from all over the world. And see if you can go on a day when Elaine is the guide because she is an awesome, sweet girl!

  • Great tour and excellent value! Tour guide was very interesting and fun and met a lot of fun people. Well worth it!!!!

  • Went on this tour last year and it was amazing! We went to some very cool bars and tasted phenomenal beer. I knew nothing about Czech beer before this tour and I learned so much. Our tour guide was very informative and also fun! I definitely recommend.
