I had a 10 hour layover in Beijing last week. CatherineLu Tours made it possible for me to see the Mutianyu Great Wall within that time and be back for my flight. They were extremely prompt in their replies to my emails, answered all my questions, and gave explicit instructions on how & where to go and when. The driver was very courteous & helpful. I’m very grateful for their assistance and have already recommended their service to a lot of people.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour which was just long enough, but not too long to ingest all the knowledge that our tour guide Connie imparted on this. Connie's knowledge of Tiannneman Square, The Forbidden City and the associated elements around them really kept us interested throughout the entire walk. Just coming to terms of just how steeped these places of interest are in history, superstition & power struggles over the many Dynasty’s. The pace & timing of the tour was just right given the high season as we were able to see everything without it being too crowded and the way you managed our itinerary meant we really didn’t have to wait anywhere for any real period of time. Along with Connie's excellent command of English we would highly recommend her and the tour company to anyone that is interested on this kind of tour. The weather made the overall experience just perfect, thanks again.

We took three of the half-day walking tours with Tracey, who was amazing (Tiananmen & Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and Temple of Heaven). Her English was great. She called us the evening before our first tour, picked us up at the hotel each morning, and provided us with the history and cultural details of the sites we visited. We gained far more as a result of doing the guided tours than we would have doing it by ourselves. Booking the tour was super easy. We had a wonderful experience and felt like this was money well spent. We recommend Catherine Lu Tours highly.

Joyce was a great tour guide: she picked me up at my hotel, and promptly made a reservation for Forbidden City so that we wouldn't miss it (warning: if you do an afternoon tour, maybe a good idea to tell them in advance if you want to do the forbidden city). She made negotiating the subway very easy, and told me a ton of interesting information about forbidden city, and also the hutongs, which we walked through on our way out.

I usually book Catherine Lu Tours because I’m certain to get a great guide. The tour we had of the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and the Mao Mausoleum was well explained by Jenny. It was a 4 hour tour, and was a fascinating tour. We skipped the long lines and went right into the Square/City. Jenny was very knowledgeable and interesting. I recommend her highly.

I booked a four-hour walking tour with Catherine Lu Tours. They were extremely responsive and helpful by email before and after my arrival in Beijing, and were thankfully flexible when I needed to change my itinerary and pick-up location at the last minute. I did a four-hour afternoon walking tour of the Temple of Heaven and the Pearl Market with my guide Tracy, who was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. She was attentive to my needs, always asking what I wanted to do and making sure I was safe and happy. It was my first day in Beijing, which can be a bit of an overwhelming city, and I felt like I was in very good hands with Tracy. She took lots of pictures of me and explained many aspects of Chinese culture and history that I would not otherwise have understood. If you book a private tour with Catherine Lu Tours, I think you are likely to feel that you are in the hands of a caring friend with your tour guide. I know that I enjoyed my afternoon with Tracy very much!

We did 2 half day tours with Sonia, one to Mutianyu Great Wall and to Forbidden City on the next day. Sonia was very helpful, speaks fluent English. She was able to captire my 2 girls attention, enthralling them with exciting stories of Chinese history, of the pilitical strife that happened in the chinese history. She also had the initiative to prebook our tickets so we walked straight into the Forbidden City. She also explained the varioys trees and shrubs in the Summer Palace and the purpose of each building. She was a walking encylopedia of chinese history. She answered all our queries and more. She also gave us an insight into current Chinese philisophy and how the culture has developed since the Cultural Revolution. This is prob my 3rd time to the Forbidden City and Summer Palace but thus trip is the most rewarding and enriching.

Fabulous experience, my private guide Jenny was amazing, met me at my hotel which was a bit far from the center of town, showed me how to use the Beijing subway system, took me to Tian’anmen Square and the Forbidden City. Very knowledgeable of history, good communication, her English is flawless. If I have to see anything else in Beijing I would ask for Jenny. I made a friend.
