Know More about this tour

Your morning begins with hotel pickup, where youll meet your private guide and hop into a personal, air-conditioned minivan. Your destination is the Danube Bend: the riverside region thats just north of Budapest, famous both for its scenery and its cultural landmarks. Groups numbering between one and eight guests are welcome to book this private excursion.

The first stop of the day will be the city of Esztergom: the seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary, and home to a colossal and beautiful basilica in fact the largest church in the country. Take this opportunity to get out of the vehicle and go for a tour of the landmark, which is recognizable for its Grecian columns and large, green dome.

Next, motor over to the small, castle town of Visegrd, from which you can take in panoramic views over the Danube Valley. Enjoy some free time to wander the streets of the medieval town, before stopping for a three-course lunch, with drinks, at a traditional Hungarian restaurant.

Your third and final stop of this Danube Bend tour is the town of Szentendre, a former art colony and today a bohemian center with its share of galleries and stylish boutiques. Youll have free time to wander its picture-perfect streets, as well as visit its museums and other cultural landmarks.

For the final leg of your tour, see the Danube Bend from the water courtesy of a 1-hour river cruise, which youll take from Szentendre straight back to the Budapest city center (this portion of the tour is seasonally available between April 30-September 30). The tour ends when you're returned directly to your Budapest accommodation.

We very much enjoyed our day tour with Susan to three lovely towns outside Budapest. Susan is an extremely knowledgeable guide. The tour bus was very comfortable, and our entire group loved seeing the extra sights.

Absolutely recommend this tour for history, culture, food and fun! Our driver, Susan, was an absolute encyclopaedia of history and local knowledge. We had plenty of time for photos and were shown some amazing views. Lunch - 3 courses - in Szentendre was delicious and, as a bonus, the restaurant has a wine museum and abundant supply of local wines. Our boat ride back was a perfect end to the afternoon. Definitely recommend Susan very highly!

We were 4 danish middleaged+ people with a basic knowledge of the Hungarian History - on a Danube Bend - all day tour - together with Nora and her extremely comfortable Mercedes SUV. I booked the private tour very late - actually only half a day before - and 5 min. after having booked a very nice lady phoned us to ask about our preferences according to car/ bus - and what we would prefer instead of the cruise back to Budapest, which unfortunately - because of the Popes visit to Budapest - happened not to be an option that day. We were lucky and got a wine tasting instead- which turned out to be a great alternative. I felt the tour-organizer really tried to ask for our needs and wishes to make a great tour for us. Our tour guide Nora arrived in the morning very precise 5 min. before time. Nora was both driver and guide for the whole day. It was a demanding task that Nora managed absolutely amazingly. In addition to being a safe driver - she was an amazingly skilled guide: She knew everything there was to know about Hungary's history - both the small details and the big lines - and could make the story super lively and relevant for us. She generously shared her knowledge with us - and made sure to direct us through the points of the day fantastic and exciting day. At the wine tasting Nora not only translated what the Hungarian sommelier told us in Hungarian - she also revealed her big knowledge about Hungarian wine at could explain all the technical details -because she was from raised in a wine family and a sommelier too! We felt we got to know Nora so well - she had a great personality - she was a very openminded and welcoming person - she spoke many languages - even swedish - which helped a lot when we couldn't find the English words - we really felt so lucky and in very good hands with her. We highly recommend this tour for everyone who wants to dive a little bit further into Hungarian history, society, geography and see beautiful landscapes and sights! Great experience! Extremely good value for money!

We spent the day with Susan touring a number of beautiful locations. She was extremely knowledgeable and informative, as well as great to talk with about present day Hungary. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour.

Wonderful way to see the Hungary! Nora was an awesome driver and guide. I did the same tour on a bus last fall. The private car was only slightly more money but a vastly better quality day.
