From your hotel in Salzburg you travel southwest towards Germany. After crossing the German border you will soon arrive at the Eagles Nest bus terminal on Mount Obersalzberg, approximately 40 minutes away from the city of Salzburg. By a special Eagles Nest bus you will ascend on a fascinating mountain road and then by an elevator through the rock of Mount Kehlstein up to an altitude of 6.017 ft. (1.835 m). From a very historical site, Hitlers Eagles Nest, you can enjoy a breathtaking view across the Bavarian Alps, the Salzburg basin and Lake Knigssee down in the valley. After a break of approx. one hour including a short guided tour through the building itself and some free time, the tour follows the same way back to the bus terminal.
Then the excursion leads down to the valley. Close to the main town of this area, Berchtesgaden, are the Salt mines. On a little train you will go into the magical world of salt inside the salt mountain. On a guided tour you will learn a lot about the origin of the salt in the mountain, the development of the salt trade and the importance of the salt, the so-called white gold, for the whole region. After a visit of approx. 75 minutes you will come back to the daylight.
From the Salt mines this tour goes on to the nearby Lake Knigssee. On this mysterious lake with its crystal-clear water you have the option to do a lovely two hours boat ride or to just stroll around, do some shopping or enjoy your time in the beergardens.
A nice stop in the charming mountain town Berchtesgaden is also part of this tour. From Berchtesgaden it is a short drive, 40 minutes, back to your hotel in Salzburg.
Due to weather conditions, waiting times or other circumstances the order of visiting the attractions might vary. This tour includes pick-up from and return to your hotel in Salzburg, driver-guide, liability insurance and gasoline, but no entrance fees/tickets.

This was worth the money. Very nice and enjoyed the trip. Tailored the trip to how you want and made sure to explain things along the trip. The only bad thing about it was it ended. Cannot say enough about how nice the driver was and made sure you saw the things you wanted to. Much better than the group tours with large amounts of people.
