Travelling from London to Beijing, with a 7 hour 55 minute layover before our next flight to Manila, we researched what we could do with all that time and made contact with ChinaToursNet to see if we had enough time to do the private layover tour to Mutianyu. The team were really helpful and reassuring that we would have enough time for this and gave us really detailed instructions for where to go and what to do when we landed to get our fingerprints scanned, apply for the temporary 24 hour transit without visa and how to get to the location in the airport that our guide would meet us at. In the weeks before we went, we saw the news of the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan and in the days running up to our trip, news that the authorities were closing down many popular public places as a precaution during the New Year period and we were worried this would affect our ability to leave the airport and see Mutianyu. We did not need to worry! Although Mutianyu was closed, we are so grateful that our guide, Jenny, made alternative arrangements for us to see the Huanghuacheng section of the wall instead! It was an unusual but unique opportunity to experience seeing part of the Great Wall of China in these circumstances. There were maybe 30-40 other people on top of the ramparts for the hour that we were up there; this involved a little bit of a steep hike but it was exactly what we needed after sitting on a plane for 10 and a half hours!! We saw lots of elderly people making the trip back down with a walking stick, it’s just a little bit steep and steps are broken rocks in some places but I think would be okay for someone with reasonable mobility. Everything was very quiet and peaceful so we were able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings with the frozen lake, the low sun in the sky, and everything about our journey from the moment we left the aeroplane to meeting Jenny, being taken to Huanghuacheng, exploring and returning went smoothly. Thank you for the snacks too!!! :) Thank you so much for making this possible even under the circumstances and I hope this information helps any other travellers going soon or who are considering a private tour - we are very grateful and appreciative that this could happen at all, so for it to feel so special was a bonus.

We had a 12 hour layover in Beijing so we decided to book the private Mutianyu Great Wall Tour. This experience totally exceeded expectations. From the beginning Jenny and team were so responsive to our emails and helpful before we arrived to Beijing. They provide you a step by step guide of what to do and where to meet them. She is so friendly and truly wants to make sure you have an amazing experience. Jenny took us to a Jade shop and our own private Tea tasting after the Great Wall. This was a perfect way to end the tour and our first time in China. We would 100% recommend this tour to anyone as it’s one we won’t forget. Thank you Jenny!

Jenny was our guide and she was so sweet and helpful! She helped us get out of the airport as quick as possible. They have special access that allowed them to take us beyond the wait lines at the wall and get us right in. Quick, efficient, and friendly. 10/10 would recommend.

AMAZING. Jenny was incredible. She was so knowledgeable and friendly. If you have a layover that is long, this 100% worth it. We got to see the Great Wall and get souvenirs. Best part of the trip

My family of 5 had an 8.5 hour layover in Beijing and booked the Private Beijing Layover Tour to Mutianyu Great Wall. The reason for the private tour was that our layover was a little short for a tour with more people who may have a longer layover and we didn't want to stress. We were a little nervous about getting out of the airport with the given instructions, but after following them to the letter, it turned out to be a breeze. One missing step though was that it didn't explicitly say to get your fingerprints taken, but there were helpful people there to guide us. Jenny greeted us and took us out to the waiting car. The drive took a little more than a hour and soon we were there walking along the wall. We had brought some Chinese RMB $$ with us, but hadn't budgeted for the chairlift up and alpine slide down but Jenny bought the tickets for us and we reimbursed her in American $$. Be sure to budget for that, especially if you have teenagers (they loved the alpine slide). Overall, it was a great way to spend a long layover.

I had just over 22 hours to spend in Beijing on a layover and decided to book a tour to the Great Wall at the last minute. The staff and guide Jenny were incredibly professional, timely, and informative as well as friendly to an outsider like myself. Despite only having a limited time to get to the Wall because of how late I booked, Jenny and the driver were able to get me there with more than enough time to take in the gorgeous sights, going for traditional Chinese tea later, followed by delicious Peking duck. Absolutely worth the experience.

I didn't know it was possible to pack so much fun in such a small amount of time. I am so glad I got to experience China as opposed to just seeing it. The attention to detail from the planning team to the trip’s incredible guide was impressive

10hr layover in Beijing China. This was the longest layover I've ever had, there was no way I was staying at the airport for that long. Especially since I was traveling alone. China ToursNet was the only company willing to do a solo tour, every other company was a minimum of 2 people. That alone rated high on my list. The information provided on how to apply for the 24hr Visa was very easy to follow. The Strabuck was very easy to find, which is where I met my tour guide Jenny. Jenny was WONDERFUL. She even paid for my rides until I could get to an ATM, because I had no cash on hand and card payments was not an option. Jenny was very knowledgeable on the history and Culture of the Great Wall, even learned about Chinese New Year. Our tour ended with a lot of time to spare, so therefore I was able to go to a near by Tea shop where I was able to experience a Chinese Tea Ceremony. (This is not part of the tour, but since I had the extra time it was doable.) Overall Money well spent. Thanks Jenny for the wonderful experience.

This is my first time experiencing a long layover. I didn't want to stay at the airport for 14 hrs. I booked a private Beijing Layover to Great Wall of China and the Olympic Center (Bird nest). Jenny, the tour guide is amazing, sweet, and so kind. Super friendly! I recommend Jenny. She knows how to hold a conversation. She was super sweet. My dad was extremely cold and Jenny was willing to take care of him while I tour the Great Wall. I am glad that this tour provides a warm jacket and gloves. It was well needed. Frank, the driver is amazing. I'm not keen on traffic and Frank avoided traffic. Both Frank and Jenny were amazing. I am blessed to have booked this tour. The best decision I have ever made. When I have a layover in China again. I will book another tour with this company again.

I highly recommend this tour if you have a stop over in Beijing or even if you are staying in Beijing for a few night! I had an 11 hour stop over whilst travelling solo, so I decided to book this tour to waste some time. The information that was provided to help me apply for a 24hr visa was extremely helpful. My flight came in earlier than expected yet Linda was already waiting for me at the meeting point which was easy to find. A luxurious car and private driver was waiting for us when we left the terminal which meant that I could leave my bags securely in the car whilst Linda and I scaled the wall (she also knew where to get all of the good photos!). Linda suggested that we take the cable car up and toboggan back down and I couldn’t recommend doing this enough! It was definitely the highlight other than the stunning views! This tour is well organised and well worth booking! Thank you to Linda for being the best tour guide going around!
