  • Pros: Upon being picked up by the guide, I learned that this tour that I booked through Viator but did not have a local company's name attached . My guide was good - friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. We did a full day of sightseeing the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Fatepur Sikri, Baby Taj, and the Mehtab Gardens. He was full of stories to tell about every location.

Cons: Here's where I feel bad writing this, because technically, my guide Mukul was a skilled guide. However, I did not appreciate the high pressure sales that were imposed on me, despite the numerous times I said I was there to see places, not shop. Despite this, he tried to take me to a marble factory/shop, pashmina scarf shop, other gift shops, and carpet shop. That's FOUR times in one day where I kept saying that I would not buy, but he kept pressuring me just to see the items without buying - except that in every store, the salesperson spoke to me like I was there to purchase.

Secondly, there was no bottled water provided, where it was listed in my tour booking that it would be provided.

Thirdly, I felt cheated at the Taj Mahal. When we arrived, he told me to leave my DSLR camera in the car, and that You cannot take anything into the Taj Mahal, which is a flat out lie. I persisted, and brought my small bag with cell phone and money with me, as I believed it to be a language barrier when he said I could not bring -anything- in with me. I was very disheartened to see many tourists with their SLRs inside the Taj Mahal, when I had been wanting to photograph it for my entire life.

Once we were in, he continued the lie by saying that you need a special pass to have a DSLR inside the grounds. I spoke to other tourists, and that simply was not true. On top of this, he told me that his friend would take my pictures for me inside, which ended up running me 5000 rupees 100 USD to get any of the photos of myself from the Taj. Not OK.
