Know More about this tour

Benefit from the services of a private guide and customize your own sightseeing itinerary in Kyoto a guardian of traditional Japanese culture. Choose a half-day or full-day tour to suit your schedule, and choose from among dozens of cultural and historic landmarks, including 17 UNESCO World Heritage sites.
After youre picked up at your hotel, you can explore Kyotos notable landmarks on foot by using the citys efficient public transportation system to get you around. If youve selected the full-day tour upon booking, youll have lunch at a local Japanese restaurant.
Perhaps begin with a visit to a few of Kyotos 2,000 temples and shrines. Tour the UNESCO-listed Kiyomizu Temple and marvel at magnificent views of the entire city from the terrace, or see the renowned Golden Pavilion and exquisite Japanese garden at the enchanting Kinkaku-ji Temple.
Ride the train to Fushimi Inari Shrine, nestled on a wooded mountain on the outskirts of the city, and stroll past a multitude of bright red torii (sacred gates) framing the pathways into the forest.
Nijo Castle, a 17th-century World Heritage site, was the residence of Tokugawa shoguns for nearly 300 years. Enjoy fantastic photo opportunities in the lovely gardens, and head inside to admire two floors copiously decorated in gold leaf.
Another UNESCO stunner is the peaceful Ryoan-ji Temple, site of Japans most renowned Zen rock garden. Meander the temple grounds with your guide and learn about its origins as a villa dating back to the Heian period a thousand years ago.
If your interests veer more toward shopping or food, your guide can take you to Kyotos best spots, including a sake brewery tour and tasting. Let your guide know if youd like to participate in any additional activities such as a tea ceremony, calligraphy workshop or aikido class, or head off the beaten path with a bike ride through Kyotos back streets (each at additional expense).
After your private orientation to Kyoto, your guide accompanies you back to your hotel via public transport.
