Know More about this tour

You can choose to depart at any time from 8am to 9:30am your private guide will collect you from your hotel for the short journey to Beijing South Railway Station. Traveling by bullet train, it takes around half an hour to reach Tianjin even though it's 85 miles (137 kilometers) from Beijing.

On arrival, you'll transfer to a suitable vehicle: a coach, minivan, or car with private driver, or, for groups of three or less, a taxi. Your first stop is Porcelain House, a 1920s French-style colonial villa covered in thousands of pieces of ancient porcelain. Besides the startling exterior, the 5,000-square-yard (4,200-square-meter) interior is home to a museum of porcelain and antiques, including spectacular marble carvings, crystal, and semi-precious gems from the collection of the owner, Zhang Lianzhi.

Next, discover more of Tianjin's international past with a visit to Five Great Avenues (Wudadao), an area that's home to over 2,000 garden-style villas built by occupying powers during the 1920s and 1930s. You might wish to take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the area (own expense) to capture the architectural splendor at its best.

Your guide will introduce you to Tianjin's cuisine over lunch in a local restaurant: as befits China's fourth largest city, Tianjin food is famous across China.

After lunch, visit a landmark of modern-day Tianjin: the Tianjin Eye. This 394-foot (120-meter) ferris wheel is built over the Yongle Bridge: it's officially the first and only observation wheel to be built above a bridge. Each of the 64 passenger capsules can carry 8 passengers, giving a maximum capacity of 768 passengers per hour, and takes 30 minutes to complete a rotation. Enjoy spectacular views stretching as much as 25 miles (40 kilometers) into the distance from its highest point.

Your last stop will be Tianjin's Ancient Culture Street, the city's number one shopping destination for traditional Chinese goods. Besides the Tianhou Temple and shoe museum, there are almost 100 stores, selling wares from embroidery and calligraphy to tea sets, seals, and figurines, as well as Tianjin specialties.

From here, you'll return to Tianjin Railway Station and board your bullet train back to Beijing. Your guide will transfer you back to your hotel, arriving between 4pm and 5:30pm.

Note: Tianjin ferris is closed every Monday. On this day, you'll visit the Tianjin Food Street or River cruise instead.

The bullet train ride was very smooth and comfortable in 2nd class and sight seeing was fun. The Porcelain House was unique and worth the stop. We toured the city via taxi which was enjoyable and allowed us to get around quicker. We had experienced Eyes before, but it did not disappoint in the view of the city and beyond. We stopped for lunch at the hotpot in the local mall and it was fantastic. Our guide Lisa was informative about local area and did a great job of making our day enjoyable.

This was the best time we had in china , would suggest it to everyone, so easy to do and all the stress taken out for you

We had a really nice time on this side trip to Tianjin. The Porcelain House was odd in a good way and we had a nice guided tour with lots of information. It was a brutally cold day, so we asked our guide for an extra stop of hot coffee. High places scare me a bit but the view from top of the Eye was worth it. We had several day trips while in Beijing and Joyce, our guide for this trip, was the best guide of all the trips we took. The bullet train was clean and comfortable. We are glad we did this tour.

An amazing train, it is very advisable to purchase tickets in advance (I purchased at the CTRIP site), a trip from Tianjin to Beijing takes half an hour, quickly and conveniently. I was afraid of the trip and ordered an upgraded car, but very comfortable in the regular car

We booked this tour primarily to experience the bullet train, and see a different city during a short day trip. Tianjin has a very different vibe from Beijing, and we enjoyed trying the street food and seeing the Porcelain house. Our guide Hellen was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable about China. Unfortunately the Eye was not open, so we did not get a chance to ride it. However we really enjoyed spending the day with Hellen, and learning more about different cities in China. She was a wonderful tour guide!

Lisa our guide picked us up in our hotel at 8 am and was by far our favorite guide of our whole trip! She really knew how too navigate the cities and train station using cars and taxi services to get it done. THis tour is great for people in Beijing for awhile and want to experience a different city. The bullet train is an experience in it self but we had already done a bullet train so we were old pros. Tianjin is a much nicer city than Beijing and much more laid back and less chaotic. The porcelain house is amazing and we really enjoyed the Tianjin eye. We had lunch at a Hot Pots which my wife really wanted to try and Lisa our guide was more than accommodating. We really had a nice day with Lisa who sat on the train with us and we exchange points about our cultures which is my favorite part of traveling. My suggestion if you book this tour to request Lisa as she is amazing!
