Know More about this tour

Your professional guide will pick up you at the hotel at 9 a.m. and then take you to the train station for the high speed train. About 30 minutes later, you will arrive at the beautiful garden city of Suzhou where your day adventure starts. First, visit one of the four most famous gardens in China The Humble Administrators garden. This is also the largest garden in Suzhou with typical southern east Ming Dynasty classic garden, including special Taihu lake rock-hills, delicate pavilions, lush flowers and trees, ponds, and 150 different Bonsai trees. After that take a walk or rickshaw along the old canal section on the historical Pingjiang Road.

Then, you will have lunch at an authentic local restaurant.

After lunch activities depend on your interests. You will have option of visiting the 13th century Buddhist temple with classic garden complex in Suzhou, or you can choose to visit a silk factory located in the old Japanese Concession where you will learn how famous Chinese silk is produced from the little silk worm to the garments.

Continue to the No.1 ancient street, and you can take a boat trip along the canal. By cruising on the old waterways, you will see the typical southeast old houses built along the canals, women washing clothes, old men playing cards, and children playing around. This offers you the true experience of all the sights, sounds, and scents of Suzhou.

At the end of the cruise, you will have a look at the famous leaning pagoda on the Tiger Hill, regarded as the second leaning pagoda after the Leaning Tower of Pisa.( Due to the cleaning up of the canal , the boat cruise will not be able to take you to the leaning Pagoda , instead you will wonder along the ancient canal street after the boat ride.)

Then transfer back to the train station in Suzhou and back to Shanghai.

1. If you have travelers between 1 to 3 pax ,we have different packages available ( Public transfer which includes the fast train experience with local taxi/cabs or Privae transfer which has NON fast train experiences , instead you will travel by private car during the whole day from Shanghai). If you do not like the local taxi /cabs traveling around , please book the options of private transfer directly.

2.For groups with 4 people or more, instead of taking the fast train, you will be provided with a private transfer from Shanghai to Suzhou directly.

The tour experience with Sunny’s was extremely easy, from booking to drop off. Sunny had easily the best communication from the handful of tour companies we used throughout out trip. She e-mailed to make sure we both had the necessary information for a smooth tour. The tour was provided by Lily, who was truly exceptional. She made it feel as if we were hanging out with a very knowledgeable friend for the day. She was easy to listen to and to talk to, which is a true plus when you’re together for 9 hours. Her English is excellent. We had a private tour and she made the best effort to personalize it to our likes. There’s lots of flexibility in this tour and we really enjoyed the gardens and the feel of Suzhou. Will definitely be contacting Sunny’s for more tours on our next trip to Shanghai!

Excellent private day trip to Suzhou from Shanghai with Rita!! Rita was absolutely the best!! So professional, KIND, and we had so much fun on our trip, she made us feel like Family!! We learned so much, made such amazing memories, and Rita took great care of us!! Rita also allowed us time to take pictures, and ordered us a magnificent lunch, we all shared together! She is an expert through and through, but more-so, she made this trip beyond memorable. Highly recommend this tour and Rita as tour guide!! You won't be disappointed! -- Love Lisa Johnson (Mom) and Jordan Johnson (Daughter)

We couldn't believe how beautiful Suzhou was. There were 4 of us in a private van with a fantastic guide which was great because we didn't have to take the Train. Suzhou is The Venice of China....Beautiful!!

This was a great way to see Suzhou. Sunny was my guide and she was very nice, knowledgeable ,and had great English. The bullet train ride was easy and quick. We saw Master of Nets garden, Panmen scenic area with Pagoda, Tiger Hill leaning Pagoda. We also took a boat ride to old town and had a tasty Sichuan lunch. I'd highly recommend this tour, especially for a solo traveler.

Our group of 4 booked this tour on fairly short notice... only about 36 hours in advance. Our tour guide Sunny was able to contact us the same night and confirm our pickup location and time for the next day. They were able to pick us up promptly when we requested, & directly from our Airbnb which was a few miles west from the city center... one less thing to worry about for an early morning! From there we headed out for ~1 hour ride in their roomy vehicle to Suzhou. Sunny was able to answer any questions we had about the city, culture, & surroundings as we passed through the various districts on our way to the first stop of the Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou. The garden itself was beautiful, taking a few hours to peruse the entirety of the grounds... from start to finish Sunny was able to impart fun facts & aspects about the gardens that only a true seasoned professional would know, well beyond what touring the grounds alone could offer. From there we stopped off for lunch; Sunny asked us what we were hungry for and offered suggestions to experience true local Suzhou cuisine with all of her favorite dishes... our favorite was squirrelfish right from the Suzhou river, yum!! After our lunch Sunny gave us the option to tour a local silk factory or the famous pagoda; we chose the silk factory and had a great time learning how the silk is processed & made into all the products they offer in the gift shop afterwards. Finally, we opted to walk the canals of Suzhou with Sunny giving us, again, great recommendations on what to eat, local favorites, sharing her food with us, and acting the part of translator when we needed it. We walked the canals for as long as Sunny let us, never holding us to a strict time when the 'official tour time' would be over and letting us take our time wherever we went. In the end, once we reached the end of the canals, she had her driver pick us up for the ride home. Sunny & her driver were able to accommodate our schedules the entire trip - from wanting to stop for coffee / bathroom right when we arrived, to being patient as we took pictures at our own pace throughout the tour (we had 3 photographers on the trip, so everyone took a long time to get their 'perfect shots'). Sunny's great personality, sense of humor, and vast knowledge about the gardens, silk factory, & canals were truly impressive, and I would recommend taking any tour she is a part of. Truly a great experience for my friends & I during our stay in Shanghai!!

The temperature on the day was -6 Celcius in Zuchou. Very cold though it was not snowing. The bullet train journeys to and back was only about 25 minutes each way from Shanghai Train Station. Wished it was Meglev train currently the fastest on earth but they only depart from Hongqiao Train Station. The guide Rita, a small lady from Sunny, spoke American English, had looked after us start to finish from our Hotel at the Bund. The Humble Garden was fantastic. I think it would be better during Spring/Summer but we had enjoyed what we had seen as it was not crowded and we were able to take a lot of photos without too many people in the background. She took us to a lovely restaurant in town and we had a good lunch. After lunch we had a short boat ride in a local canal village. It was wonderful. Next time we would try Zhouzhuang or Tongli or even Wuzhen. When we finished the boat ride, we had a little stroll along the water canal village and it was wonderful. If not because of the cold weather, we could have visited another section of the village but we preferred the warmth in the train station so we decided to leave earlier waiting for our train back to Shanghai. Overall it was a wonderful and joyous trip to Suzhou from Shanghai.

My mother and I had a wonderful experience on our day tour to Suzhou with Lily at Sunny Tours. They were very communicative emailing us before the trip and confirming with us the time and place we would meet. Lily met us in the lobby of our hotel and took us on the speed train to Suzhou. She was really sweet, knowledgeable, funny and patient. The places we visited were really great as well. At the end of the tour she brought us right back to our hotel. It was definitely a highlight of our trip! My mom and I would definitely recommend the trip with Sunny!

We had a very nice private tour to Souzhou and our tour guide Annie was very competent and had excellent English. One very considerate feature was that tour agency contacted us to suggest changing the day of the excursion to avoid predicted rain. The switch of day really saved our enjoyment in this trip. This tour is organized around local transportation, with Annie calling Ubers each time we needed to change locations (actually DeDe (phonetic) in China). We did not have more than 5 minutes wait for a car so worked out fine. Negotiated changes to the standard private trip, and were taken to sites we requested. Client is responsible for admission charges, which were low. Suzhou is about classic Chinese gardens, and the Garden of the Humble Administrator was lovely, especially since ginko and maple leaves had turned, adding color. Then on to the Suzhou Museum, designed by IM Pei. Worth a visit for the architecture of course but collection worth viewing as well. Then lunch at a simple local place with no English menu (self pay, Annie helps you order) – very inexpensive, not gourmet, but good. Then the Beisei pagoda is just a short interesting walk away, and is itself interesting. It was at this point that our choices turned out to be less than exciting. The Daoist temple is under renovation which mars the visit, the Confuscian temple was closed, so off we went to Tiger Hill. You will only see this pagoda from a distance so not worth the time and effort. In retrospect, wished we had chosen to do a second Chinese Garden, perhaps Master of Nets.

Annie from Sunny Tours met us at our hotel and was our guide the entire day. We rode the bullet train to Suzhou and took taxis/Ubers as needed. She asked us what we wanted to see and gave us additional suggestions. Her English is outstanding and she gave us a most interesting and informative day. Our transportation needs were smooth and efficient. Lunch at a local restaurant was delicious. We toured the Humble Administrator’s Garden, Suzhou Museum, ate lunch, toured Taoist and Buddhist temples, and took a wonderful ride along Grand Canal. I injured my knee two days before and was concerned about walking; Annie watched for and pointed out possible tripping hazards, which I really appreciated. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and learned quite a bit about historical and modern life in Shanghai and Suzhou.

Our tour guide Rita was fantastic. She took us to the Master of Nets Garden which was not only beautiful but not incredibly crowded and very relaxed. Next we went to the Silk Museum which was interesting for our family to see the silk making process. Rita took us to a delicious restaurant and helped us in the ordering. Lastly we took a boat ride on the canal and then walked a bit around the town. The boat itself was a bit warm and stuffy as it wasn't an open air boat and we toured in August. The tour guide was great and I would have loved to have Rita show us the rest of Shanghai. Rita was 5 stars. However as far as selecting tours, the ride to Suzhou was long. It took about 2 hours to drive there and 2 hours to drive back which is why I rated this tour only 4 stars. I think a high speed train there would have been better.
