If you are looking for a day trip to a picturesque town in the Slovak countryside, this is a great choice. Our guide was knowledge and spoke excellence English. Highly recommended! Read on for a more detailed description: Great tour! Martin was our tour guide and he picked us up about 2 mins from our Air BnB. The ride to Banska Stiavnica was about 2 hours-the end of the ride has a lot of hills and tight turns, so if you get motion sick easily you can let your guide know to slow down and he will. Banska Stiavnica is quite picturesque-your first stop is at a museum that used to be a lookout tower. Martin, our guide, was very informative and spoke excellent English as he led us through a tour of the museum. Then, we walked into town, where Martin told us about the town’s past as a mining town. We also went to the castle, where we saw the prison cells, bell tower, and some of the old artwork. There was also an option to do a tour of the Stations of the Cross church, but we opted not to do that. Afterwords, we had lunch at a local restaurant which was very good. The day ended with us going back into town, doing some souvenir shopping, and eating some ice cream. Afterwards, Martin drove us back.

Our trip to Banska Stiavnica with Best Slovakia Tours is amazing from the very beginning. Peter is quick response and answer all my questions. The day of the tour, Martin picked us up from our hotel and then we started our wonderful journey with him, Martin is very knowledgeable and resourceful and caring. This was a highlight of our trip so for. Martin was an exceptional guide with great historical and cultural knowledge. He was adaptable and tailored the day to our family interests. This is a good trip if you want to discover more of Slovakia outside of Bratislava. Banksa Stiavnica is picturesque and fascinating. Highly recommended.

Our guide gave us a great highlight history lesson on important events in the history of Slovakia on the way, then related various aspects of the town to those events. A very informative day with lots of hiking and a great lunch. Our guide was very attentive and it really felt like our tour was customized to meet our interests. It was great to hear some of his personal stories and share ours as well! It was a very hot day, but our guide brought plenty of water. My only regret is that we toured on a Monday and unfortunately the castles were closed for inside tours.

We spent one day to the very nice historic town of Banska Stiavnica, a UNESCO world heritage site and to Calvary with Peter who is an excellent guide and driver. Not only he took us the the so many places of interest in Banska stiavnica and around but also was always willing to give us good cultural and historic information. He answers all your question and also can adapt the tour to your special requests. If we go back to Slovakia or plan to make another tour in Central Europe, we would be so happy to do it again with Peter.
