Escape the hustle of Taipei for a day and discover the spectacular beauty of the nearby countryside. Experience stunning waterfalls, fly your own sky lantern, and enjoy a delicious taro dessert in a mountain top cafe. All this and more is possible on this private tour just for you.

Know More about this tour

The stunning waterfalls and areas of outstanding natural beauty at Pingxi, Shifen and Juifen are must-see highlights for any Taipei traveler. On this private tour you can enjoy them all, plus you can experience some off-the-beaten-track delights that only locals know about. Like the abandoned mines and deserted railway stations, places that Mother Nature is quietly reclaiming. Follow the sound of a whistling kettle to an old miners cafe where water for tea has boiled non-stop for 60 years. This is an area of dazzling beauty and awesome history.

Your private host can guide you to the famous waterfalls and also show you the surprises that lie beyond. Surprises that could never be found in a tourist guide book. Take a drive through the mountains, a hike up a hidden waterfall, and a stroll across a 128 meter suspension bridge.

But lets get back to the stunning falls. As you approach Shifen waterfall youll hear the thunder of the gushing river before you see the giant unbroken sheet of white water crashing onto the rocks below. On sunny days, the mists create rainbows in the blue skies.

At the Golden Waterfall the naturally-occurring heavy metals in the riverbed turn the flowing water into a breathtaking glowing gold color. The contrast of the deep green grass at the waterfalls head makes a truly magical visual experience. Not surprisingly, this area of natural beauty is a photo favorite among local newly-weds.

After all the natural beauty and history its time to top off your tour with a view of the incredibly ornate Ah Mei Tea House. Why wait in line when your local host can guide you to the perfect seat to gaze out on the beautiful coastline? All you need to do is enjoy the view while munching on a delicious local treat: a Taro dessert served with shaved ice.

The local hosts on your private tour have all been carefully selected to share unique insights and personal anecdotes with you! Also, ask as many questions as you want. Take a look at the videos and choose the local you like the most.

Want to adjust your private experience to your preferences? No problem let your host know what you would like to see or do and your private host will do his/her best to make it happen. Enjoy!

Friendly guide and enjoy this trip very much! These places are charming and with his introduction to these places add on the characteristics of it.

I would've loved to give this review 5 stars bec the sites we saw were great but the tour guide "Daphne" was horrible! From the moment she came to pick us up, she didn't look enthusiastic and throughout the whole tour, she looked like she didn't really want to be there but had to be bec it was her job. The tour was supposed to include a small lunch and a taiwanese dessert but we did not get any of that. Also, during the lantern making, she only gave us 2 lanterns to work on but there were 6 of us. The deal was supposed to be 1 lantern per 2 people. Seems like she was ripping us off.... was she getting extra money for not taking us to lunch or giving us an extra lantern?
It's a good thing we bought some food from the stalls at Jiufen old street, otherwise, we would've been hungry.
But besides her poor attitude, the sites we saw were amazing....
So for people who want to book a tour thru this company, find out who your tour guide is and if it is "Daphne", ask to switch to someone who actually cares about their job and who won't rip you off.

A very nice trip, great area to visit. Jessica, our driver was very good and helped making the trip a nice experience. She was a good driver and shared some of her knowledge of the area. We would have liked to have more explanations kind of expected in a tour, but while it lacked information she was nice and communicative.

I had high hopes for this tour based from the reviews. On the day itself, no tour showed up and when we called the number, he mentioned that he cancelled with the company the tour, however we did not receive any cancellation email or call. Since there is no use contacting the tour company, we sought the help of 's help messaging service which was fast and 's customer service was able to sort it out within the day. Still awaiting the refund for this tour.

This was the first time in Taipei and didn't really know what to expect. We booked a tour to Pingxi and Juifen online without any problems. We met our guide Jack at the designated meeting point and off we went for a really memorable time! Our guide must be one of the best around. He was very knowledgeable about the history and the culture of the places he brought us to. He even invited us to taste the local street food which was very nice of him. We really had the most enjoyable experience and because of him, we'd like to go back to Taiwan again. I highly recommend Jack as your guide as well as taking this tour for a brief insight of this beautiful country.

Despite wet weather and limited visibility, we had a nice day with our tour guide. Our guide was on time and she didn't rush us at the stops. Worth doing this tour if you go to Taiwan. The tour description stated that a lunch was included but we didn't get a lunch.

The entire trip was totally fun, amazing and awesome! William - our Tour Guide is indeed knowledgeable, accommodating and fun to be with. He's so game with the craziness of the team. The most memorable part is when we created our sky lantern in Pingxi. Wrote our wishes and goal and lit and ofcourse say a little prayer. We're are looking forward to our next trip with the help of Viator and hopefully to be guided by William. THANK YOU!

Truly enjoyed this trip with family, A must do Tour especially if it is your first time to Taiwan. It was rainy a rainy and cold day but our local tour guide Nicholas was fantastic. He went out of his way to make sure we were confortable. He prepared umbrellas and even warm pads fo us. Great job!

Nice hikes to 2 waterfalls. Didn't go to the golden waterfall like the site described but the tour guide made up for it by taking us to a beach. Bring your swimming suits and towels. You can swim at the beach and at the first waterfall. If you're into food like I am, Jiu Fen's food and shopping was amazing. We really wanted to go to the Taroko Gorge, but the 9am start time instead of 6am won us over.

We were a family of 7 and had a nice, clean, roomy private van and a nice driver Mr. Liu. Daphne our guide studied abroad in the US so she spoke very good English. Daphne was kind and friendly and spent a lot of time listening and talking to our children. She patiently went on all the sites with us and did everything at our pace. Our 9 and 12 year old daughters loved her. 4 stars for the tour. 5 stars for Daphne. 5 stars for the transport and pace.
