We went to Haleakala Crater through Holo Holo tours with Kea as our guide. It was a private tour and included only my husband and myself. My husband walks with a cane. Kea was very helpful, informative and very mindful of our slower pace. He explained everything along the way and was just a great guy to be around. 10 out of 10 for sure.

Coming to Maui in February is really great for whale watching but for any activities up on the mountain can be hit or miss. There was a storm a few days before we arrived and on the weather forecast app showed it would be raining all week. Lucky enough our tour was still on and it was such a surreal experience. Jasmine picked us up from the hotel at 1pm and we expected to see sunset by 6pm ish on that day. We got a cute mini van, spacious and clean, plenty of space for 3 of us. Along the way Jasmine had a lot of stories and history of Hawaii and each place we passed i.e Sugar museum/factory, farm land, ranch. We stopped by at the lookout since we spotted the whales on the way to Haleakala, so that's a plus. Jasmine didn't rush us at all. We were on island time. I love how Jasmine curated the whole trip like a presentation and a deep education. We learned a lot, not only Hawaii history but the mythology, folklore, the belief and rituals. I love all the stories about Pele, demigod Maui, Hina and even menehune. She also played a lot of beautiful Hawaiian songs along the way and each song related to the topics she told us about. The view changed when we got closer to the summit. It looked like we were on another planet. Since it was a wet season, we drove through cloud, rain, mist, and some part, we could not see the road at all. Jasmine drove very carefully and we felt really safe. We saw a lot of rainbows, 'i'iwi birds, the Nene, silversword, chukars.... and our misty moody sunset. This tour is one of the highlights of our trip. No one can do it better than the locals like our guide Jasmine and Holo Holo Maui Tours!! Highly recommended!

We took 2 tours with Holo Holo and both were great. Kea took us to Haleakala. A as a local Hawaiian, we learned a TON from him! Great tour. Highly recommended!

My wife and i took the private tour to the top of Mt Halakalea. Our guide took us to a far less crowded overlook to see the sunset, this gave us an almost private view, away from the crowd. We found our guide, Kea, to be knowledgeable and courteous. He did everything to make our tour enjoyable. We highly recommend him.

My wife and I had a wonderful trip up Haleakala. We booked the private tour from Holo Holo that picked us up at our hotel (you have to call them if you want hotel pick up. You can do it after you book for an additional charge. But its easy.) While you can drive up Haleakala yourself for sunset, I am reminded of all the added value you get with a tour guide. First of all, you don't have to drive down the mountain in the dark. Secondly, the driver doesn't get to see the sites on the trip up the mountain and thirdly, the trip is a whole lot more efficient with someone who knows what they are doing. Kea proved to be an excellent tour guide. He picked us up at our hotel on schedule and we remained on schedule the rest of the trip. He was relaxed and casual, but gave us a lot of insight regarding the island from the perspective of someone who grew up on the island. The tour consisted of several scenic hikes as you go up Haleakala. Hikes that I would not have known existed without a tour guide. That got us to the summit with plenty of time to walk around and take in the the crater and the clouds BELOW us. The best was near sunset, Kea took us away from the crowded summit to an undisclosed location where no other tourists lurked. We saw an amazing sunset and relaxed through dusk seeing some amazing colors. Then we got back in the van and still beat all the other tourists down the mountain. I personally have driven up the mountain on previous trip, but if you are considering a self tour, stop right now and book Holo Holo. Ask for Kea. My only complaint was that Kea only gave us a waxing gibbous rather than a full moon. He promised to do better next time.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the outing with Gus! First of all, he's an extremely nice, kindhearted and fun person. Secondarily, he's quite clearly an expert on Maui! How wonderful to experience such a special excursion with someone able to impart such a trove of knowledge. He was great with our young kiddos. Aside from showing us the volcano, I very much enjoyed our conversations about Road to Hana, Hawaiian agricultural history, his native Brazil, soccer, childhood education, and places we've each traveled. Gus came highly recommended and did not disappoint. I would also like to add that Jasmine coordinated the experience from the get-go, and wow, what a kindhearted woman! She was so supportive concerning the fact that our daughter has a severe case of Celiac Disease and would need to be extra careful to stay away from any gluten. I just really enjoyed our correspondence via email, pre-trip, and could easily tell that I was coordinating with someone who truly cared. Highest of praise for this operation. Can't wait to recommend family and friends.

This experience was perfect. Our tour guide Kea was so knowledgeable and gave us a wonderful history lesson of the islands. The food provided and the charcuterie board we ordered through them was delightful. I can’t recommend them enough and we hope to be back and do the tour to Hana through their company next time.

Luke was just filling in for this company but for 10 months now Great job of giving us Hawaiian history Didn’t know there are only 600 full blood Hawaiians left in the world Great private tour Great snack of banana bread and fresh pineapple

Our tour guide, Dayne, did an excellent job of showing us around Haleakala National Park along with stopping at Hosmer’s Grove to walk around. He was very educated on Hawaiian history and knew his way around the National park giving us insight and tidbits on its history. He came prepared with snacks and cushioned seats for when we stopped at the summit to watch the sunset. It was a smooth drive on the somewhat winding drive up to the craters and the summits, along with stopping at every opportunity to allow us optimal photos! 10/10 would recommend the Haleakalā summit and stroll at sunset with this company and Dayne!
