Tour Details

One of the most remarkable sights in Southeast Asia, Bagan has inspired visitors to Myanmar for nearly 1000 years. The kingdom of Bagan took root in the 8th century but only rose to glory as capital of the First Kingdom of Myanmar in the early 11th century. Ancient chronicles say that there were once 4446 temples over its wide plains but today only around 2200 remain, as recorded by UNESCO in 1988. Many of the temples were architectural wonders of their time and still inspire awe among visitors and an introduction to the temples of Bagan in the end only wanting customers to see more.

Know More about this tour

Your guide and driver will pick you up at around 2pm (this tour is only operated in the afternoon) for guiding you along the most significant pagodas and temples of Bagan.

Your first stop will be at the Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine. The Shwezigon Pagoda's name was derived from Ground of Victory Jeyyabhumi, and was associated with the two great kings Anawrahta and Kyansitta for their backing of the Buddhist religion. Following this visit, we head out to the Ku Byauk Gyi temple, known for its superb murals of Jataka scenes.

As the Bagan temples are dotted on this plain, visuals from the immense site are some of the features we cannot pass by. The Bu Lei Thee Pagoda is one of these well-maintained temple ruins and acts perfectly as a platform to admire the plains with temple and pagodas as far as the eye can see. The Ananda Temple is one of the more recognizable ones in the region with four magnificent standing Buddha images. You will end the afternoon at the sunset view point to enjoy the majestic sunset over Bagan.

After the sun has set, you'll comfortably be brought back to your hotel in Bagan.

  • Tour was good but only offered in the afternoon, probably because of the amazing grand sunset view at the last temple, however it's the hottest part of the day. Tour made a great selection of the best, major temples to view, even making flexible changes, and adding temples, to improve the experience. We could go pretty anywhere we wanted and stay as long or short as we wanted. Note that the Bagan archaeological zone ticket is not included in the tour so should be purchased at airport or elsewhere before the tour. Tour was quite expensive for not including this ticket, but as said we had a great time and therefore still recommend it if you don't feel like exploring on your own, and want to make the most of 4 hours.
