I have rated this a 5 as the Great Wall is incredible and highly recommended. My husband and I booked a private tour at the very last minute and thoroughly enjoyed this part of the Great Wall as there are hardly any other tourists we saw only 7 other people. It is quite steep in parts so be sure to have good shoes. A couple of things to mention is that the hike is no where near 12km nor was it 4 hours of hiking as stated in the itinerary. We walked for about 2.5 hours which was enough as it was quite cold but our guide told us part way through the walk that it was time to turn around and walk back. I thought it was a linear walk where a car would collect us at the end point but our guide was our driver as well so that couldn't happen! Another thing I want to mention is that our guide was not the best as he was constantly on his phone dealing with his business and his staff and he also didn't provide a great deal of information unless we asked a specific question. The lunch after our walk, which was at a local restaurant, was fantastic however we weren't asked if we had any specific diet requirements - lucky they didn't serve us seafood as my husband doesn't eat it!. All in all though we thoroughly enjoyed the day.
