Know More about this tour

Your tour focuses on visiting smaller, more boutique wineries in the Hunter Valley offering low production but high-quality wines not widely available outside the region. You will have the opportunity to try a wide range of grape varieties, including semillon the variety for which the Hunter Valley is best known chardonnay, verdelho, shiraz and a number of others.

Departing from your Sydney CBD hotel at approximately 7:45am, you will cross Sydney harbour bridge and travel through the northern suburbs of the city towards the Hunter Valley. For the last 30 minutes of the journey, you will travel on a picturesque Country road through rural towns and villages.

You will arrive atthe first winery at approximately 10:15am for yourintroduction toHunter Valley wine, which will include thegrape varieties typical of the region.

In the Central Pokolbin area, youcan choose tostop at a cheese shop where most of the cheese is made locally, and by hand - its true artisan local product. There are also a number of other products to sample such as jams, pickles and tapenade. Feel free to order a small sample plate with four to five cheeses (at own expense).

Stay in the Central area for the second winery visit, where you can enjoy more of the Hunter Valley's excellent wines through a tasting.

Stop for lunch at the Hunter Valley Gardens complex where you can choose from a number of different eateries (at own expense). There are three cafes offering pies, burgers, mixed platters and other typical Australian food. If you prefer a more formal restaurant, you can dine at The Cellar Restaurant. The Cellar is an established dining venue in the Valley, known for its modern Australian and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, along with a highly regarded wine list. (A la carte and package lunch options available at The Cellar, closed Sundays, alternatives available.)

After lunch, you will head to your third winery for a tasting. For the final stop, guests can choose between a fourth winery,a micro-brewery where you can enjoy a beer tasting (at own expense), or a distillery for vodka and other spirits (at own expense).

Departing the Hunter Valley at approximately 3:45pm, you return to Sydney CBD at approximately 6:15pm.

Traveler Reviews

For some reason, our review of a wine tour from Napier has my review of the above tour.
Hunter Valley tour, guide Glenn, great tour with flexibility, good wines and a great lunch. Highly recommended.

Same thoughts about our tour from Napier. Guide there was Bruce. It was like touring with a family friend.

Our driver - Glenn was perfect. He allowed us to customize our tour based around our winery preferences. We decided to have a picnic in the Hunter Valley Gardens and Glenn was on hand with a picnic blanket for us to use. Water was readily available, we would highly recommend.

This tour is perfect especially if you are travelling with kids. Glenn was very nice, considerate of the circumstances and what the whole group wants to do. He took us to the Ernest Hill winery - the group’s favorite! I’d book his tour again when I can in future.

This was a brilliant trip. Our guide Glenn took us to four different but bespoke wineries in the Hunter Valley. We enjoyed each winery although our favourite was the last one we visited namely the Pepper Tree Winery. Glenn was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

The trip was great. Glen was a safe driver and great host. He took us to several wineries and also helped us to make lunch arrangement based on our needs and schedule.

How could you not love it when you've already downed four glasses of wine by 11 am? This was a unique out of town experience for our small group of four. The quiet and calm atmosphere in Hunter Valley was the perfect contrast to the CBD's frenetic vibe. While the tour supposedly included three wineries, we just opted for two we were already giddy with all the wine and visited a brewery for the third slot instead this was after lunch, when we've recovered from all the wine. Being first timers in Australia, of course we wanted to see Kangaroos. And to our surprise, we saw one hopping along in the first vineyard! Our tour guide, Glenn, was very accommodating. On the way back, we mentioned that we wanted to visit The Rocks, and he gladly took a detour to take us around the neighbourhood and dropped us off right where we pleased after showing us a good vantage point where we took awesome photos of Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

Very relaxing, nice vehicle, wonderful guide, Glenn! We would highly recommend this tour. Note: the journey to/from the Hunter Valley from downtown Sydney can take up to 2-2.5 hours each way.

I would recommend this tour to everyone! We had such a great time! Very easy and convenient- we got picked up early at a convenient spot to us and although the ride to Hunter Valley was a bit far, we had a great time in the car with a DVD player and the view is beautiful and we went in the winter!. We were able to do many wineries and ate lunch at a great little shopping area. Overall, great great experience!
