Overview

You're welcome to take a front or a back seat in the planning of this private tour package! We have the experience and know-how to focus on particular places or areas of personal interest, or to lay out a full itinerary for your enjoyment.
Our favourite route focuses on religion (which is so important to the lives of most Indians) and you learn about Hinduism, Islam and lesser known Jainism. Visually, this is an impressive tour- you will admire the Haji Ali in the middle of the sea, enjoy views from Mahalaxmi Temple, and get a one-of-a-kind perspective of Mumbai (and Marine Drive) from the Hanging gardens. Dhobi ghat, the world's largest open-air laundry, as well as the Gandhi museum are also conveniently located en route.
This is a private package tour and customized for you, so you can omit or add anything to the list. Or, if you prefer, we can do a completely different route, that's fine!

Know More about this tour

The world’s largest outdoor laundry! See the dhobiwallahs, or washermen, scrubbing sheets from Mumbai’s largest hospitals and hotels at this busy outdoor laundry area.
This temple is considered one of the most beautiful, intricately-decorated temples in the city. Jainism, an Indian religion, prizes peacefulness and non-violence above all.
Visit one of Mumbai’s greenest and most peaceful areas on top of Malabar Hill. You won’t believe the eye-popping view out over Marine Drive and the Arabian sea!
Surrounded by Hindu temples, this famous 12th century tank is believed to contain water with special healing powers. Rumour has it that its spring comes from the holy Ganges river
Surrounded on all sides by water, this mosque is located at the end of a long causeway protruding into the sea. It is the tomb of Saint Haji Ali, a wealthy Muslim who renounced the world and proceeded to Mecca. It is said that he died in Mecca and the casket miraculously drifted to the spot where the mosque was later built in his honour.
One of the city’s largest wholesale fruit, vegetable, meat market— and the first building in India to get electricity!
See one of the busiest railway stations in the country at rush hour! CST is Mumbai’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site and it was featured in the final song from the award-winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire.
Built in 1911, the British Troops marched under the Gateway of India in 1948 to signal the end of the British Raj
The “Thieves Market” is one of the largest and busiest flea markets in the whole country and sells almost anything. Taste some local sweets, take home delicious home-made pickles and chutneys, or shop for a colourful vintage Bollywood film poster!
Now trip to Mumbai is complete without a stroll down Marine Drive, otherwise known as the Queen's Necklace.
Visit this bustling port and watch as local fishermen bring in their catch.

I did the Mumbai street food tour with my partner and we had a great time. It was a good introduction to Indian food and we learnt so much. The food was delicious and there was a lot of walking to help off set the large amount of it. Would recommend to anyone to do!

I did this Tour with 1 other friend and it was fantastic! Our tour guide Nano was the best - super knowledgeable and personable and genuinely really fun to spend a day with. We had to adapt the tour based on some attractions being closed due to the PM’s visit but what we ended up doing was even better. If you’re thinking about this tour, I 100% recommend it!

I wish there were more words I could write for how phenomenal my experience with Reality Tours was. Krishna went ABOVE and BEYOND for our large group to have an amazing and authentic experience. As a large group of young adults from the United States (which can be a lot to manage) every moment of our tour was planned and executed extremely well. They even took us to the park and taught us how to play cricket! We did the Rural India tour and it made me fall in love with this country so much I’m planning to come back and tour with Krishna again. I could not recommend more! Seriously stop wasting your time looking at other companies and book with Reality Tours, you won’t regret it!

We had truly emersive and wonderful experience with Swathi. Not only was she truly knowledgeable , but she was funny and - most importantly - has a kind heart. The driver was also very sweet! The tour was well planned and smooth, and we saw Mumbai from all angles. We felt safe and secure the whole time ( as two women this was very important for us). Truly a wonderful experience: 100% recommended!

I took an all day tour with Reality Tours. I highly recommend them. It would have taken me days to see what I experienced with them in one day. I was solo with a guide and driver. Traffic, distances, my lack of Hindi skills really prohibited me from doing this alone expeditiously. Price was reasonable and my guide was completely open to showing me anything I wanted. He made excellent itinerary suggestions. He spoke English very well and was full of information. I particularly appreciated the Dharavi slums tour. It was done respectfully and provided terrific insight into local cottage industries.

My family, (two daughters, one son-in-law, one 12 year old granddaughter and 76 year old me) recently took the private Mumbai Sightseeing Tour - full day run by Reality Tours and Travel. We were met in the hotel lobby by our guide Balaji and had a discussion on what we would like to see and do. We met our driver and off we went. As our hotel was opposite the Gateway of India we had already crossed that off the list. Among the places we visited or saw were Crawford Market, Dhobi Gat Outdoor Laundry, Bombay University, Gandhi Museum, the Victoria Terminus and to us the highlight of the tour, the Dharavi Slum. Our guide Balaji lives there and was able to really give us insightful knowledge about the way the community lives and works (1,000,000 million people living and working within a 2.5 square kilometre area.).. The children were a particular delight with their cheeky grins and “high fives”. A percentage of the money earned through these tours is used for the improvement of life for these hardworking communities. They have schools, doctors, shops, bottled gas, electricity and water within the slum but communal toilets and washing and bathing facilities. Balaji said he was very happy there because there are many of his cousins from the same village he initially came from. Our family found the visit to be a memorable and uplifting experience. Thank you Balaji for your exceptional knowledge of all the places we visited and your charm and good humour. Also, our driver, Raj, was exceptional in getting us through (to our eyes) the chaos and noise of the Mumbai traffic so expertly. It certainly was a day to remember.

We were picked up from our ship by Chetan and Prashant and each day we were shown around Mumbai. Chetan had a wealth of knowledge which he told us about. He knew everything about Mumbai past and present. He showed us all of our requests.... and then some. Prashant is an extdriver especially navigating the crowded streets of Mumbai. Wonderful tour and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!

Our guide was very good. The meal at lunchtime was great - a little overpriced for Mumbai but still worth it. A good day all round.

We booked this tour for three of us as one of our group had been on a previous tour and rated it one his highlights across the whole of India. So our guide Jenya had a tough billing to live up to! He was superb - tailoring the day to create a mix of different sights with some new experiences for everyone. He was very knowledgeable about all things Mumbai and a tremendous ambassador for the city and this company. Paul the driver was also charming and able to add to the tour. We saw a whole range of sights including the flower market, viewpoints, The Haji Ali Daragh, a Jain temple, street food on the beach and the Ghandi museum. It seems counter intuitive and even uncomfortable to have 'slum tour' mixed in with sightseeing, but the visit to Dharavi was the highlight of the day. The company's clear social purpose and the way it is offering employment and reinvesting profits back into the area are accompanied by a narrative that challenges preconceptions. There are all sorts of issues that you have to confront about housing, regeneration, rights and environmental responsibilities within a community that is enterprising, connected and clearly proud. We came across another Dhavari tour taking photos, which felt very wrong and this company have a clear policy about cameras not being allowed. Its a tour that will live long in the mind for changing your thoughts about how we live together in cities. If you want to visit Dhavari then this is the only tour you should take. It is however great too see that a company with such purpose is able to be so much more - and the whole day was a standout experience. Now all three of us will be advocating these tours next time we are in India!
