Traveler Reviews

This was a very expensive private tour of a very small city. The tour was only 4 hours including the hour long ride from Lisbon each way, therefore, you would imagine that the tour guide would be prepared. ABSOLUTELY NOT! 1) Obidos’ castle walls had been under maintenance for over 2 weeks (prior to having booked the tour) and it was never disclosed to us that we wouldn’t be able to enter certain areas. 2) The tour guide did not know much about the city and incorrectly described one monument as being another. She often used excuses like “sorry I’m tired”, “I’ve been traveling” or “I haven’t been to Obidos in a very long time” as an excuse for her lack of knowledge.

We travelled very far and paid a lot to have to hear those excuses.

I recommend driving to Obidos and doing it on your own instead.

Very disappointed in Viator for including this tour on their website.

*our other tour today was actually cancelled because the guide did not show up to Sintra! Will not likely be booking with Viator again as we have had two bad experiences back to back*
