  • Our tour guide was Alfredo and our driver was Kenji Kenya?.
They were both very nice. I think some of the dialogue Alfredo did during the driving could've been a big more related to Lima. I think at one point he was talking about sea shells from Equador and giving us a lesson on which ones come from hot water and which ones come from cold water. That was just an example...but other than that they were both extremely nice and worked hard ALL day to make sure we had a great tour.

This entire tour could've been cut in half time wise. It's already a 4 hour drive to and 4 hour drive back from Lima to Huacachina. We left our hotel at 6:40am and didn't get back until 10:45pm. Talk about painful by the end! There were just way too many stops between Lima and Huacachina. First we stopped at some road side place for breakfast. They didn't give us any instruction and just sat us at a table. This was NOT included in the price for the tour and we had already eaten breakfast. Therefore we were kind of forced to sit at a place and buy breakfast. They didn't tell us how long we were to be there and just left us there. Finally we waited and waited and ended up going to find them in the parking lot! Wasted about 30-45 minutes doing just that...

Then we stopped at some small town where there was a pier into the water... They had us get out of the car and walk to the end of the pier then back... Snore... I mean we were staying at the JW Marriott off the cliffs of Miraflores. This was another detour that did not need to happen. Then we went to some small town outside of Ica to see this weird palm tree and tree which what was probably a left over deco piece that someone found and decided to say it was the statue for a witch that lived there several years ago.

At this point we had been in the car for several hours and just anxious to get to Huacachina to do our sandboarding!! Can't go into much more detail but yeah the tour needs to get a serious trimming!!!!!

  • I am an avid snowboarder so I was really excited about sandboarding. I purchased the tour about a week before our trip to Peru. The day before out tour we called the number provided to us on the voucher around 8 at night, because then we hadnt heard anything from the tour company. The man who answered sounded confused when my husband called. It seemed like they had not seen our confirmed booking but they nonetheless arranged for our trip the next day. They told us to be ready at 6:30 in the morning, they did not arrive till 7. The two men, the driver and the guide, were very nice, a little awkward at first, but pleasant nonetheless. On the way to our first stop, Cerro Azul, the guide was informative with historical content about Peru. When we came to our first destination everything was closed, even the pier. Someone nevertheless let us walk through. There was nothing really to see to be honest, our stay there lasted no more than 20 min. The guide took usies with us, which I found a little strange. Next we were on our way to Huacachina for our sand board and buggy ride experience! When we finally got there we joined others on the buggy. It really was a lot of fun riding on the buggy! When we got to our first sand slope the buggy driver said we would ride a total of three slopes. The first being easy, second medium, and last would be the grand finale. We arrived at the first slope do a test run before boarding. He told us to lay on our stomachs and go down superman position weird. So we did. He then took us to a second more stepper slope and had us slide down again on our stomachs. So, again, we did. Then he took us to the oasis, which was really cool to see. I thought after the oasis we were finally going to get a to sand board, standing up. Only to find out our sandboarding and buggy ride experience was over. I did not time the tour but I dont think it was more than two hours. I very disappointed to say the least. We paid 500.00 to sand board and we didn
