Know More about this tour

Meet your knowledgeable guide at your centrally located Strasbourg hotel and set off on your walking tour. As you stroll, hear illuminating facts about Strasbourgs complex past and German heritage.

The German influence left on this French city is apparent as you follow your guide deep into the UNESCO-listed Grande Ile to explore the lovely pedestrian-friendly streets around The cathedral. Admire the Maison kammerzell, a medieval townhouse that now houses a hotel and restaurant, before you arrive at the statue of Johannes Gutenberg, the founder of printing, in Gutenberg Square. For more ornate architecture, stop outside the grand Palais Rohan, an 18th-century residence that once hosted Marie Antoinette and Napoleon Bonaparte.

Then make your way to Strasbourgs centerpiece: The cathedral of Notre Dame. Marvel at the soaring spire and stonework of this Gothic masterpiece and go inside to view its stained glass and rose windows, created between the 12th and 14th centuries. Please note that your guide will not be able to make any commentaries inside The cathedral unless group is equipped with p/a system and headsets.

Your tour also takes you into La petite france, where Strasbourgs millers, tanners and fishermen once lived in the half-timbered houses that still remain along its many canals. Hear how the area was actually named for a local, 15th-century French hospital for syphilitics; a far less pleasant origin one would expect for such a sweet-sounding moniker. Explore the leafy cobbled lanes and stroll along the canals to snap photos of the Vauban Dam and Covered Bridges, and view other top Strasbourg attractions such as the Customs House, Old Butchers House and Saint Thomas Church.

After around two hours, your tour ends in the center of Strasbourg and you are free to continue exploring independently.

The tour was just terrific, all thanks to our wonderful tour guide Danielle. She met us promptly at our hotel and then walked us through lovely Strasbourg, pointing out the history and significant structures, including Strasbourg's Notre Dame Cathedral, just gorgeous! Danielle was very personable, her English is excellent and she indulged my efforts in French and even pointed out good bakeries and got us samples of Alsatian macaroons coconut YUM! Highly recommend this tour with Danielle!

Loved this tour, loved Strasbourg. We had an excellent guide who was so knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. Thoroughly recommended.

An excellent walk with Daniele who engaged with us in a friendly, professional manner. Two hours and money well spent to enable us to gain an insight into the city of Strasbourg from a person with local knowledge.

This tour was fantastic, even though the weather wasn't that co-operative that day. The pace was excellent. The guide was knowledgeable and personable. It was really excellent. Strasbourg is a beautiful city and the astronomical clock was amazing.

Sadly, we learned more on the audio recording used on the boat tour (€25) than with our personal and much more costly guide. We would not recommend this tour to anyone and hope that our Munich experience with you will be better. Otherwise we will not use your services again. - Steve D

Excellent way to get to know the big things and the little things about this great city especially if you are pressed for time. The tour guide is a true native Alsatian, very enthusiastic and very knowledgeable.

The guide was good. But the total cost was too high. I will book local in the future
