Daphne reached out well before the tour to see if I had any questions and the tour started on time. She accomodated many of the questions during the experience and even gave recommendations for after the tour. The duration of the tour was met with a strict military-level attention. Though, I am a bit conflicted on what score to give based on my experience with this tour. I have been on different tourbylocals activities around the world and support them but the latest experience is a bit of a thinker. I could be a downer and point out that only one snack was supported while the listing said two snacks and one drink, and that the tour did not cover the songshan station or the memorial hall at all when the listing said it would - but this would all be devil in the details. Was I bored - nope, Daphne was very engaging and never let a moment of boredom creep in. But did I enjoy myself - I am not sure coz we didnt see much other than a few square kilometers and I kept getting the sense that Daphne had somewhere else to be. I think the issue here is not with Daphne who served her function but the itierinary perhaps which was too short to be indicative of anything that Taipei can offer (there are bigger better night markets and temples within a few blocks, a couple of addiitonal stops near Taipei 101 area would have provided cultural context to Taiwanese history and way of life, etc. etc.). I wouldnt give a negative rating for this tour but it still left me wanting more of something which I have to go elsewhere to fullfill in Taipei. Maybe this tour is the best option within this price range? - I havent researched that yet. You can definitely find positives out of this tour but maybe I am focusing on the empty half of the glass. Anyhow, if you are a first time in Taipei and would like a small appetiser of what lay in store ahead, feel free to go on this tour with Daphne. It might just do the trick for you.

We loved our tour with Daphne even on a rainy evening. She was prompt, organized, and a wealth of information about Taipei, the Taoist region, and the night market. , Truly enjoyable tour. Try the stinky tofu. It's actually quite good despite the name.

This is my first visit Taipei after a decade and I wanted to see other side of Taipei. I was glad to join the journey of exploring Taipei in the night with Daphne. She brought me to this beautiful Taoist temple (Songshan Ciyou Temple), explained about the rituals and different gods at the different floors of temple. Then we explored the Raohe night market, enjoyed local delicacy. Great part of this market is that it's commonly visited by both local and travelers, so one really gets to see how locals enjoy the food market. Given I enjoy whisky, she introduced me very nice whisky bar, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you Daphne for making my stay more fun..

We had great time with Daphne, learned a lot about Taiwanese culture and religion, had some amazing food at the local market and ended the tour with some local craft beers. She's super helpful and positive. Couldn't recommend her more!

We had a great tour with Judy and David, including two markets, a temple, architecture, and night photography. David is clearly a highly skilled photographer and patient teacher. As someone that had some basic training with SLRs and film 20+ years ago I was worried I could not keep up. I had a lot to learn and remember and David took the time necessary to understand my skill level and tailored our trip as well as his guidance accordingly. He also provided significant guidance on how to use software to enhance the camera work. Additionally, he and Judy were wonderful in showing us more than just camera work, they also guided us to the best options in obliging our request to try some local flavors as we walked through the markets. A memorable, enlightening, and thoroughly enjoyable experience, and at just the right pace and patience for our six year old. We highly recommend booking them if you like/love photography and want to get a little local flavor of Taipei! We captured some amazing photo memories of our first visit to Taipei!

This was my first time booking a private tour with locals.com and it won't be the last. Daphne, our guide, was personable, on time and very informative. We loved the tour of the Taoist Songshan Ciyou Temple, Raohe night market and the Taipei 101 shops area.

Chia-Chein is an excellent guide! We met her for the night market tour with our son, age 12. Not sure how much he'd enjoy it, but from her previous reviews knew she'd make it fun for him! We toured a temple and learned the history which is remarkable. Then on to street food. Bless her, she had a tough group with us because I'm a super picky eater, our son was super jet-lagged, and my husband frustrated with us both\uD83D\uDE02. However, she was super kind and patient as we found items we all could enjoy!! She took photos for us which is extra special as other than selfies we couldn't get all three of us in one photo. She completely tailored the evening and even dropped us back to our hotel. We totally recommend her to be your guide!!

Daphne our tour guide was friendly and very helpful. She showed us around the street market and couldn't have been more informative of local traditions and delicacies that were on sale. The temple was amazing and again Daphne was very informative showing us all around the temple and explaining the meanings of all the different gods it was all very interesting.
