The Tour: Sunset At U Bein Bridge
U Bein Bridge is one of the most recognizable places in Myanmar, and makes for a great evening trip from Mandalay so you can capture the beauty of its structure at sunset dont forget your camera! It is said to be one of the longest and oldest teak bridges in the world, having been built in 1850, as well as one of the best photogenic locations. You will be met at the hotel by your guide and driver at about 4pm before being transported the 30minute journey through rural landscapes to the bridge. Stretching 1.2 kilometers across Taungthaman Lake,it is a fascinating area to see local people and appreciate the lake, which has a rich history behind it. As the sun begins to set, incredible colours fill the sky, and the scene provides a fantastic opportunity to take pictures of people crossing the bridge. After sunset you will be returned back to your hotel in time for dinner.

This was our introduction to Myanmar. Our guide was very good and spoke English very well. The trip to the bridge was interesting. We have traveled in Asia a great deal so this was not as spectacular as we thought it would be.
However, before going to the bridge we stopped at a gold leaf making workshop. Unbelievable. We are completely in awe of the work and time it takes to make the gold leaf. Our guide was able to explain and show us every step in the process.
A must see in Mandalay.
