Know More about this tour

Start your day with a pickup from your Rome hotel. The start time is up to you, but early morning pickups are recommended to avoid the crowds that appear later in the day.

With your driver-guide, youll travel into the heart of Ancient Rome to see the Colosseum. Listen to your guide to learn about the famous amphitheater and the gruesome gladiator battles that took place inside its walls. If you want to head in, pay your entrance fee direct, and spend 45 minutes exploring on your own.

Your next stop is the Roman catacombs, a tangle of tunnels beneath the city where Romes early Christians buried their dead. Head underground to explore some of them on a 45-minute guided tour.

Back above ground, youll visit the Appian Way, the ancient Roman road that once connected the capital to the coast. Its believed to be one of the first roads built by human hands. Continue to Circus maximus where the Romans raced chariots, and gaze at whats left of it as you take in views of Palatine hill.

Hear tips for places to eat lunch, and then resume your tour of the city. Visit the Pantheon, and Spanish steps, then stop to throw a coin in the Trevi fountain for luck.

I cannot recommend this tour enough to people who are short on time but want to see a lot of Rome. Our driver, Fausto, did a great job giving us background on each site that we saw while also making the experience personal and fun.

I agonized for along time whether to book this tour for fear of the unknown. Any doubts were totally unfounded. This was an excellent experience for my quite mobile 85 year-old Mother and me. Our driver/guide, Massimo Max, was extraordinary in every way!!! He arrived at our hotel early. His lovely Mercedes mini van was very comfortable. His knowledge of ROME history - both ancient and current, places, art, religion, everything!, was amazing and so interesting. We expressed an interest in Bernini statues as well as beautiful churches - and he drove us to many beautiful sites, explaining what was unique about them along the way. We also enjoyed ancient Rome, views of the Forum, etc. The only disappointment I can think of was that the 7 hours went so quickly and we had to say goodbye to Max. He returned us to our hotel, but upon hearing that we would be taking a taxi to go to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon on our own, he drove us and dropped us off at the Piazza with more explanations along the way. I can not say enough about our experience and Max our extraordinary driver/guide. One additional plus: Max was educated in the United States and has dual citizenship so he is very easy for Americans to understand. THANK YOU for memories that we will savor always! The absolute best experience!

This was an amazing experience with an amazing guide sorry I cannot recall his name - such a shame I have misplaced it. Because we were taking this tour in mid August, the streets of Rome were pretty quiet and we were able to get around with ease. Our driver was able to take us places he said he would not have been able to reach at other times of the year. The vehicle was safe, cool and very comfortable. There were 4 adults travelling and some had mobility challenges and all of us move slower than when we were younger. Our driver was patient and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this private tour! The only way to go!!

One of 2 best tours of trip. We were 15 minutes late getting to the guest house in Rome from the ship. Call the company and they were very nice. Said they would call our driver/guide Josef and he would wait for us. When we got to the guest house, Josef was waiting and it was a good thing. We would not have found the guest house inside a courtyard and not very well marked. And no one answered the buzzer. Josef called and they said check in was not for an hour, but they would come check us in. Once we checked in and put our luggage in the room, we were off. Josef asked what we wanted to see, explained what we could not Catholic holiday so no Vatican city and what we could in the time allotted. Then he drove us to all the highlights--pantheon, Colosseum he had the tickets for us so we went straight in, Circus Maximus and the Forum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps and the Borghese Villa and gardens. At each stop, he would take us to a convenient place and explain the history and construction of the monuments. He had a wonderful book that showed what they looked like in Roman times and now. Then he would explain the meeting time and location and let us explore on our own for a while. Josef was very knowledgeable and helpful. We got to see everything we wanted except the Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica because of the Catholic holiday. Could not have seen all that without Josef and his van. Can't rate and recommend this tour hightly enough.

Excellent guide. Very informative! He kept my two teenage daughters interested and that was amazing. Worth the money for sure?
