Know More about this tour

Your tour takes you through the main streets of Santiago's civic center with its many different architectural styles. You'll pass the neoclassical Moneda Palace, built in the 18th century and current seat of Government; the Plaza de armas, or main square, with its cathedral and the Central post office.

Your tour continues to the Parque forestal, based on Paris' Champs-Elysees and Santa lucia hill, where the city of Santiago was founded in 1541. You'll continue to the bohemian area of Bellavista and climb the San Cristobal hill for a panoramic view of Santiago with the Andes mountains in the background.

My tour was a lot of fun. Your experience may vary, I think it’s highly dependent on the tour guide that you get. I’m not your typical tourist, I don’t care that much for just walking around and staring at buildings. I want to see how people live, learn about the community and culture that I’m experiencing, how the history of the country and town leads to the community I’m interacting with today. Having a one on one tour with a good guide allows you to do that. Also, because we had a driver we were able to drive around the city a bit and see some of the neighborhoods, the traditional way of living, as well as getting out of the downtown central city location. They went out of their way to provide that.

My one complaint was that the “tour” of the park is really nothing more than driving through....we couldn’t even get up to the statue on the top of the hill. Still, the views were nice and it was fun to experience.

Our guide, Val, did an excellent job taking us around to see the various attractions on the city. She was attentive and personable. The time seemed too short but we saw a lot in the time we had.

This was a special and interesting way to get a wonderful insight into some of Santiago’s great spots. Carol, my guide was superb, introducing me in a friendly, informative and enthusiastic way to many places including Barrio Lastarria, Cerro Santa Lucía, La Moneda, Plaza de Armas and Bella Vista. Thoroughly recommended!

No sign of our private guide at the appointed time at our hotel. Called the local tour operator on number provided by Viator only to be told tour was cancelled due to breakdown of vehicle. With help from hotel concierge they phoned back and offered us a tour 1.25 hours later which we took as we had limited time on our stopover in Santiago. Tour was OK but market was cloded due to late departure and there was a lot of walking due to streets being clogged with traffic in the downtown area. Would not have booked this at all with beniefit of hindsight.

This car/walking tour of Santiago, conducted by our guide Vanessa and driver Jack, was truly an experience that provided us with sights across the city that gave my daughter and me a real sense of the city in all its aspects: culturally, politically, economically, and socially. We saw by car the beautiful view of Santiago from the high point of St. Christabel. And we saw where the nightlife takes place in Bella Vista, where people buy food in the marketplace, where people shop in downtown, where people worship, and where the government conducts its business. Vanessa gave us an enormous amount of information so I really feel we came away with an in-depth sense of what the people and the city of Santiago are like. It would have taken several weeks to find this on our own, and we could not have received all the information Vanessa knew. We were in Santiago for less than a week, so I was very happy with this tour of the city. I have to add that I was in England in May of 2018 and took two Viator tours there that were equally well done. I highly recommend Viator tours.

Claudio was a great guide. Knowledgeable and patient, with our request for a Starbucks stop! Loved the Plaza del Arms visit. Good tour, a must do in Santiago!
