Know More about this tour

Leave central Dubrovnik in the early morning, and travel by luxury, air-conditioned vehicleto Split roughly three hours north. Sit back and relax as you travel, admiring the gorgeous coastal scenery while chatting with your guide about the places you want to see. Your itinerary is flexible and your guide will happily tailor it to your interests.

After arriving in Split, stretch your legs on a walking tour of the center. The coastal towns A-list attraction is Diocletian Palace an incredible UNESCO World Heritage Site that nearly encompasses the town. Originally built as an ornate home for Emperor Diocletian, the palace became a city in its own right as more buildings were added to it throughout the ages.

Stroll around Peristyle Square within the palace grounds, listening to tales about the extravagant Emperor Diocletian while seeing sights like the Cathedral of St Duje with its magnificent bell tower. Pose for photos next to the Temple of Jupiter a beautifully preserved Roman monument and then head out of the palace grounds to discover the rest of Splits delights.

Stop to rub the foot of the Gregory of Nin Statue for luck, and then amble over to Republic Square (Prokurative), a Mediterranean-style plaza lined with elaborate Neo-Renaissance buildings. Hear about the concerts and cultural events that take place here, and then pass Mestrovic Gallery a museum dedicated to the work of Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic.

Enjoy a break for lunch (own expense), and then perhaps spend your afternoon either continuing sightseeing around town to learn more about Splits history, or perhaps checking out the city beaches. In the late afternoon return to your vehicle and travel south to Dubrovnik. Your tour finishes at the start point in the early evening.

  • Alex was our driver and our guide for the Private Tour:Split Day trip from Dubrovnik for a party of four two couples for an all day round trip from Dubrovnik to Split on Tuesday September 26, 2017

We highly recommend the drive for its scenery and spectacular panoramas, and can't imagine any driver that we would rather have take us than Alex. He was professional, friendly, and courteous. He has an excellent command of English, and deep knowledge of Croatia and the countryside through which we toured. His commentary on the locations and the context he gave us for Croatia were first rate. Given the length of the drive we also appreciated his choice of music - first rate.

We could trust him with our safety and I am a stickler on this in full confidence though conditions that place high demands on a driver - in our case, his day started when he picked us up in Dubrovnik at 8am, continued through our touring of Split in the later morning and afternoon, and then to a winery tour he recommended the winery and it was first rate and our evening dinner in Ston, finally ending a long day by returning us to our rental apartment in Dubrovnik at 9:15pm.

Safe, professional, courteous, friendly -- what more do you want in a driver? Which is why we rate him at the top, 5 out of 5.

  • It was a very well-paced trip that mixed a sufficient introduction to Split with free time to explore. Robert was an excellent driver and guide and Tanya provided an informative overview of the town. Our only suggestion would be to advise travelers in advance that they need to take their passports rather than depending on the driver to do it on pick up. An excellent tour from Dubrovnik if you are not going to stay in Split.

  • We enjoyed this trip. Good driver and good guide. We especially liked the actual drive from Dubrovnik to Split - great chance to see the Croatian riviera. Only negative thing - we didn't know that we should have had our passports with us as we had to pass through Bosnia-Herzagovinia but our driver sorted everything out for us.
