Know More about this tour

Taroko National Park, famed for its stunning marble gorge and is regarded as one of the top nature wonders in Asia. You can feel the change of nature from time to time by the depth of the gorge, cut by the flow of water after thousand years. Moreover, you can ramble through the trails in the gorge and enjoy the stunning view of the soaring marble cliffs. From the archway entry to Tianxiang, this 12.5-mile (20-km) section of Central Cross-Island Highway winding through the steep marble cliffs and tunnels of the gorge will take your breath away.
First, take a walk along Shakadang Trail, where the crystal clear blue water of Liwu River is running beside you. This river has cut through the marble over millions of years, and created the deep, narrow gorge.
Walk through the tunnels of Swallow Grotto, where you will enjoy a stunning view of the cliffs reaching up to the sky. The potholes on the cliff surface were created by the ground water and the rapid stream of the river. In the past, they were the natural nesting location of swallows; hence it got the name Swallow Grotto.
After that, stop by Cihmu Bridge (Motherly Devotion Bridge), an H-Shape hanging bridge built of marble and named by Late President Chiang Jing-guo, for a heart-touching story about a loving mother.
Before lunch, take a short break at Tianxiang, a large river terrace recreational area where the Youth Activity Center, a Catholic Church and the only 5-star hotel in the park are located nearby. This area features spectacular river landscapes, such as meanders and potholes that make Tianxiang the most picturesque place for dinning and lodge.
After lunch, hold your breath, because this nature’s masterpiece will take your breath away. Tunnel of Nine Turns is considered the most scenic section of Taroko Gorge, which has reopened in 2019 after years of repair work. Along the trail, you can see the meander running through the deep and spectacular canyons from high above. Also, you can have a closer look at the faults and folds of the sheer marble cliffs, as well as the vegetation on the walls.
Next, you will visit Eternal Spring Shrine, which commemorates the 225 personnel (military veterans) who died during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway.
Before heading back to Taipei, end your tour with another visual feast. The amazing Qingshui Cliff is one of the island’s “Eight Wonders”. The soaring cliffs stretch for 21 kilometers, which visitors can enjoy a sweeping view from the viewing platform.

The private tour was really worth the extra cost, as we could spend more time in places that interested us.

This was fabulous. When booking it seemed expensive but on reflections absolutely worth it. We were a party of four ladies two of whom are very experienced walkers and finished the tour wanting to visit Taiwan again to go hiking, the mountains were stunning and there were many walking trails. The train journey is a little long and therefore slightly boring but worth the trip. We had an air-conditioned car with driver plus our guide. Ling Ling was very experienced and knowledgeable, good english and with a lovely sense of humour. The tour did not disappoint with stunning views. We picked this tour as it included some walking all of which I managed despite poor knees I'd class them as family walks. We were right to do so, all of the tour coaches we saw seemed to just stop at odd points and let people get out to take photos. We had the please of walking in the gorge with plenty of time for pics and conversation. This tour lost one star only because we could not hear our tour guide when in the car. She is a small lady and the four of us were in a large 7 seater car with two of us in the back. A microphone would work better or she needs to sit in-between not in the front.

Great day out with stunning scenery after the hustle bustle of Taepei City. Our guide David Harn was excellent, interested and enthusiastic without being pushy. The day was ours and we were offered flexibility wherever possible should we have wished to influence the itinerary.

We did not go to the beach or the marble factory. We were rushed the entire time and the driver drove so slow it cut into our time in the park. The lunch was horrible......For the money we paid I was very disappointed.....

One of the most beautiful sights! Our tour guide, Michael, was terrific and I highly recommend him and the tour. There were a lot of traffic delays due to road work in the park so a couple of the planned stops were not made including the marble store...a tourist shop but that was no ones fault. The Eternal Springs Shrine is unbelievably photogenic and Swallows Gorge, well, you have to see it. Lunch was very good. All in all, this is a must see!!
