Know More about this tour

Step aboard your boat at a gondola stop near St Marks Square, and then sit back and relax as your gondolier expertly navigates your gondola around the waterways. The traditional flat-bottomed boats have been used for centuries in the city and, as you explore the canals, your onboard guide will keep you entertained with trivia and history about them.

Cruise along Rio della Madonnetta, a picturesque channel that borders the San Polo and Santa Croce neighborhoods, and enter the Grand Canal. Snaking some 1.9 miles (3km) through the city, the famous canal is lined by grandiose churches and glamorous palazzi that look out on the countless gondolas, barges, water buses and taxis on the water. Soak up the sights and hear entertaining stories about how Venice was built from your guide.

Pass beneath Accademia Bridge, seeing the San Marco neighborhood on one side and Dorsoduro on the other, and listen to more tales of Venetian history over the years. Work your way through some of the less-busy and equally enchanting side canals, and then pass back onto the Grand Canal to see Ca dOro, an attention-grabbing mansion with magnificent Gothic arcades.

Before working your way back to the start point, see Rialto Market with its colorful stalls of fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, and then pass beneath Rialto Bridge one of the icons of Venice. Hop back onto dry land at the start point and bid your guide and gondolier a fond farewell.

  • We enjoyed the tour, but it was so hard to find. We ended up walking around for two hours trying to find it.

  • When one is in Venice... one must gondola! I did this tour with my family after a couple of hours walking through Venice, this was a beautiful and relaxing way to wind down. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and was open to answering any and all of our questions. Walking through Venice, you will notice that a lot of Gondola Stands are jam-packed with tourists so I was slightly concerned that we would get stuck in a mob ourselves but the meeting point for this particular tour was situated away from the crowds and still easily accessible. We spent a bit of time on the Grand Canal whereas my personal preference would have been to explore more of the canals. Apart from that, I highly recommend this guided tour as it will allow you to bask in Venice's Grand Canal whilst learning and appreciating the history of this beautiful floating city.

  • Very well done. The guide was very knowledgeable
    Highly recommend

  • This was a great tour, we were not sure what to expect with a tour guide but it was a wonderful experience.

  • Really good. Tour guide was very knowledgeable but difficult to understand at times. She did suggest a great restaurant though.

  • Absolutely fantastic. Our guide Alessandro Trabucco was very informative and friendly. We learned lots about the history of Venice and the canal system. Great way to tour! We booked in advance and would recommend doing that as we didn't have to wait very long to get on our gondola.

  • The guide was very nice and knowledgeable. The tour was a little weak. We were in the back canal the whole time and there was really nothing to see or to have explained after the first 10 minutes. To take up time, our gondola would go very slow and let others pass us. We did take advantage of our guide and just had all of our general questions about Venice and other sights answered. If tourists want to really see Venice, I would recommend the water taxi tour.
