Know More about this tour

Your guide will pick you up from your Budapest hotel and take you to the public transport station (ticket included) to head to the Castle District, where your 2-hour walking tour takes place. Wander the narrow, medieval cobblestone streets of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed district as your private guide unveils stories, tales and legends of Budapests history, culture and folklore.

Visit the Castle District's main sights while getting an in-depth overview of the historical events that have shaped the district over the centuries. Youll learn how Castle Hill was built and discover its strategic and symbolic purposes as a defense against invasion.

Tour the exterior of Buda Castle (also called the Royal Palace and Royal Castle), and then wander the old cobblestone streets and alleys surrounding the spectacular structure. This is where youll explore lesser-known areas often overlooked by most visitors, giving you a more authentic experience of this wonderful part of Budapest. Youll then head to the center of the Castle District for a tour of Matthias Church (if its not open, youll tour the exterior). This is one of the most precious buildings in the Castle District.

Your tour culminates with a trip to nearby Fishermans Bastion, a fortification atop Castle Hill. From the lookout towers, soak up magnificent panoramic views of the city and the Danube River below.

From here, your guide will give you ideas, recommendations and directions to continue exploring Budapest on your own.

An excellent tour of the Castle District we did in mid-July. Balint was our guide for this tour. He did a great job and adjusted things to fit our interests. He was personable and very knowledgeable -- in fact he was able to answer a question I had about Matthias Church that two other guides couldn't answer.

Definitely book this tour, it is great and you have a lot of flexibility. Our tour guide was Frank who met us promptly at our hotel in the Opera district. Frank showed us a map and gave us an overview of our itinerary. We walked past Saint Stephens Basilica and to the Chain bridge at which point we decided to catch the bus to the top of the Buda hill. From there Frank gave us an awesome tour of all the sites including Fishermans Bastion, Matthias Church, Hilton and the Castle, Frank is extremely knowledgeable and we learnt a lot. My wife and I also really enjoyed Franks humor and the great general conversation we had about Budapest. At the end of the tour, Frank gave us a bunch of awesome tips about what else to see and do in Budapest.

This tour was amazing. Victoria was very professional and showed us/talked about extra things that no other tourists would have seen or heard about without a guide. Very interesting. Would highly recommend!

What a way to start our stay, approx. 3 hours after arrival in Hungary we were being immersed in culture and history. Greeted at out hotel by the wonderful Anita we embarked on an educational excellent walking tour. Anita was attentive and informative we used her recommendations over the course of our short stay. You want the best out off a city break and are interested in culture and history you have to do guided tours. Thank You.

Brilliant, highly recommended. Viki was full of information and answered all the questions of my 14 year son. So much better than just wandering around on your own. Will do it again when I visit another city
