This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Winery Despotika, Smederevska Palanka, Central Serbia
Our first wine stop is the village of Vlaki Do and Despotika winery, a newly established winery with ambitious plans and an enthusiastic owner. Despotika has several wine labels made from different kinds of grapes, but one is unique Morava, indigenous Serbian grape variety. Only few winemakers in Serbia grow Morava, so youll have a unique opportunity to try this white wine. Of course we wont stop only with Morava, there are many Despotikas wines to taste.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Rujevica
Next stop is family owned wine cellar where you'll have a unique opportunity to try wines from their own production and to match it with local food during lunch. Here you'll also get the idea how small family owned businesses function in the big market.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Kings Winery
After lunch we move on to the capital of the umadija wine region, to Topola, where Karaorevi Royal family nurtured their vineyards and where they created the famous Trijumf wine. Royal wine cellars nowadays are publicly owned and they grow grapes on 11 hectares only, compared to 50 hectares from the period of the kingdom. The highlight of the Royal winery is the original kings wine cellar which is in excellent condition, so youll have the opportunity to see how the king made his wine some 85 year ago. The biggest treasure of the Royal cellar is the old archive where they keep wines from the 1930s.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Winery Aleksandrovic, Topola, Central Serbia
Next stop is one of the most prominent Serbian wineries from 1990s onwards, Aleksandrovi winery. This is a modern, yet very traditional establishment which produces only high quality wines. An interesting story is connected to their early days, namely the old kings winemaker, who emigrated to Canada when WWII started, had the recipe for making the famous Trijumf (Triumph) wine, so when he heard that Aleksandrovi was renewing his family vineyards and starting a new winery, he sent the recipe for Trijumf wine to him, in order to continue with the tradition of Trijumf wine production, which was discontinued with communist regime taking over the Royal wine cellar. Nowadays Aleksandrovi produces many different wines, but they are best known for their Trijumf range, including sparkling wines.
