Know More about this tour

Pick up from your place of stay in Tbilisi in the morning. You’ll start the journey to the wine land via picturesque Gombori pass, 5315 feet (1620 m) above sea level.
Your first stop is in Tsinandali, at the residence of a Kakheti nobleman of the 19th century, Alexandre Chavchavadze. The Tsinandali winery still produces wines according to the methods brought here by Chavchavadze when he revived the estate in the first half of 19th century. Take a walk in the decorative garden with a glass of wine from Tsinandali wine cellars and learn the history of the one of the royal families of Georgia.
Next head to Shumi winery located just a few minutes’ drive from Tsinandali. Here you’ll have a tour in the winery which presents a collection of wine related exhibits, a history and culture department and a wine-tasting area. Taste Shumi wines made according to European methods of wine-making.
Continue to Telavi town and have lunch in one of the local restaurants serving authentic Georgian cuisine.
After lunch visit village. Here you’ll stop at Twins Wine Cellar, a delightful agro-tourism winery and vineyard site. You’ll visit the wine museum, taste different types of wine and learn about the Georgian methods of making wine in Kvevri (large clay jars used for fermenting and storing wine).
On the way back to Tbilisi, visit Shuamta village and two important and beautiful architectural monuments of Kakheti – Old and New Shuamta monasteries. Both of them stand in a forest of deciduous trees, which makes them look even more fascinating.

In the evening return to your place of stay in Tbilisi.

  • Fabulous driver and guide, they provided so much historical and current information about Georgia. Both were extremely professional and provided us with a beautiful, memorable day.

  • The tour was amazing. The guide and driver were super friendly from the moment we met. They really make you feel at ease and relaxed. The tour brings you past a panorama point with a view over Tbilisi, and a small church along the way to Kakheti, which eases the 2hour drive from Tbilisi. After that there are 3 stops for wine tasting. The first stop is in Alexander Chavchavedze museum and wine tasting, after paying a visit to the museum we tasted 1 local white wine. They have a very nice park attached to the building as well. The next stop was in Shumi winery, where we had the chance to taste some of their award winning wines, with bread and cheese. Then the last stop was in Twin Brothers winery, where we had an amazing home cooked lunch with the wines. We had an amazing day and we can recommend this tour to anybody!

  • Ecaterina of Georgian Holidays through Viator was warm and welcoming. My husband and I learned so much about the Georgian culture on our private tour and felt very well taken care of like we were her personal guests. It was a wonderful and unique experience in a beautiful country. The food and wine was ample and absolutely delicious!

  • the first stop of wine tasting tour in Tsinandali was a disappointment - they gave us a tour of the house itself instead of the wine making process the second stop was at Twins - the owner is absolutely amazing, it was a wonderful experience. we had lunch over a traditional Georgian food and it was pretty good :-. Anna - the tour guide was very friendly and warm though she refused to take a little tip of US20 which made us feel offended...

  • The tour company Georgian Holidays staff , Manana, Eka and Levan were very friendly and patient. The day tour was well spaced out and we had ample amount of time to take in the scenic views. We were so happy with the wine tour that we decided to book then same company for a full day tbilsi tour the next day. Will defnitely recommend to future travellers.
