Know More about this tour

Your adventure begins when you are greeted by your welcome team at the cruise center main entrance. Meet your guide and board a mini-bus or van for the fully narrated drive to the hike's start-point. Once there, receive an orientation, a safety briefing and have the opportunity to use the facilities before you begin your trek through the Dominican forest.

During the hike you will cross streams and see tropical birds and plants along the path. Continue this moderate hike until you reach the waterfall where you will enjoy a relaxing swim. After your time at the waterfall, you will make the return hike to your start-point where you will have a bit of free-time to browse the gift shop, enjoy a cool beverage or have a bite to eat (at own expense).

After, re-board your safari truck for the return to the cruise center main gate.

Please note, while this is an "easy" hike, you will be required to walk for approximately 1.5-hours on uneven surfaces.

Five stars isn't enough for this company and the guides we had earlier this month. The communication was excellent and we had a lot of fun. We booked this as a shore excursion for our cruise that was supposed to dock in Puerto Plaza. We didn't have a full day in port but wanted to experience the falls without risking hurting ourselves. It definitely fit the bill. Cruise problems started happening before we left our home port. We were switched from Puerto Plata to Amber Cove. A day or two later we were told that we were coming in later and would only have 4 hours in port and all the shore excursions arranged through the ship were canceled. I kept in contact with Puerto Plata Adventures by text the entire time. They said if the ship did come in at the later time they'd cancel and refund what we had paid. Our updated itinerary had us coming in at 11am and when we got up that morning we could see we were close to the port and would definitely be earlier than 11am even though our cruise staff kept assuring us that we'd be in at 11am. The tour company and I kept texting and they said they'd be there for us. I texted them to let them know we were third in line to get off the boat and we'd get to them as quickly as possible. Needless to say, they were where they were supposed to be and we were one of the few on the ship that actually got to have a shore adventure! We got to the falls entrance and hiked up to the last waterfall. It's not a bad hike at all and we enjoyed it. We got to do the last two waterfalls and our teenage daughter got to jump off one of them. A big thank you goes out to the entire staff for making this happen, but especially Alex, Tony and Juan Pablo for an enjoyable time! The m

Beware of insect bites!! I was bitten in my ear & it got infected. I had to be given an emergency infusion of antiobiotics thru an IV in the ship. It cost me an arm & a leg for my treatment. The worst thing of all was i was throwing up the whole day & couldn’t eat for days when I got home. What a vacation!!!!

Wonderful informative walk and talk about the native vegetation and waterfall. My husband had a minor medical incident that they handled professionally and he still fully was able to participate due to their extra guides that stayed with him. Family sponsored business doing a quality job. Rum punch was great!

This was one of the best excursions I’ve been on! Not only did it include great Rum punch at the end, but it was very informative. It was a little bit of a trek but definitely worth it. As we waited for others they gave us water and access to WiFi on the bus ( which was a God send after sharing a WiFi plan on the cruise with my husband for days). Our tour guides Henry and Winston led the hike and told us a lot about the area, uses for the trees and stones we passed and we’re also very funny. It was never a dull moment. We spoke with other people once we got back to the boat and they did not have half as much fun as we did and paid twice the price booking thru Carnival. They have other excursions, so I definitely will be booking with them when I return to the DR.

Our guides for the trip Winston and Henry were great. Henry did our portion of the walk to the falls. He was very informative about the plants and their uses. The falls at the bottom were beautiful and we had a wonderful time swimming as we waited for the group that was doing the jumping. If we go back i’d like to try the jumping and sliding after listening to those that did it. It was not a difficult walk to get to the waterfalls and meeting outside the port gates was not a problem

Only saw one waterfall at the end of the other tour (the jump). It was a lot of hiking to the last waterfall. If I knew that I would have jumped and slid. I gave a good rating because Rosie and Francisco made it enjoyable. The rocks were sharp. Water shoes are not good enough. Ruin a pair of sneakers- it is worth it.

Definitely, a sight to see. Not only the tour guides showed you the waterfalls (7 natural pools and waterfalls that you can actually jump into) but they had a vast knowledge to the state park and the land. Very knowledgable and trustworthy.

My family had a wonderful time on this excursion. The crew was very helpful and Francisco was my personal body guard most of the day. He made sure I got through the hike, jumps and slides safely. We definitely recommend this excursion and Amber Cove Adventures for this experience!

We mistakenly scheduled this trip for a Sat but were there on a Thurs! The company rallied and sent someone to get us within an hour even though we were not scheduled for the day! Excellent service! We liked the hike thru the jungle with our guide (Henry?) pointing our many different plants and telling us about their traditional uses. The waterfall was small but enjoyable. We did not attempt to slide down the falls like many others were doing.

Very long trek to get to bus! Very long pier, take a tip only rick shaw ! After pier and obligatory duty free shop, long walk through new tourist and shop area to get outside of main gate....advertized 50 meter walk, is really closer to 500 , you come to sign saying that, well outside gate. New bus, very nice and knowledgeable guide, but we waited 45 minutes for now show couple from cruise ship. About 20 minute ride , mostly on gravel road under construction. Got to site, passed on $45 BBQ lunch, got helmet and life jacket and started long trek through constructions sites. Guide explained all of the medicinal benefits of the many different kinds of leaves and fruits. Tasted several of the fruits. Wear thick sneakers, not water shoes!! Thousands of sharp rocks that cut right through water shoes! Crossed several streams , 3 inches deep and 2 feet wide....the reason for life jackets?? finally got to 1 waterfall , about 15 feet high if you count both sections....pool of water , muddy, you could swim in, few did. Could climb rickity wooden ladders and slide down concrete chute or jump into pool, no one did. Hiked back down. Good rum PUNCH on bus back , but road so rough , some managed to spill some PUNCH in their mouths.....then very long trek back to ship..... needed some more truth in their ads.....
