Know More about this tour

Considered as "a gift of the Gods", the cacao tree was very important to the ancient culture. It was not only used as a ceremonial drink, but its seeds were also used as currency because of its economic value, in many regions of Mesoamerica, including Costa Rica.

In this 2-hour hands on program, you'll have the opportunity to learn interesting aspects of cocoa and chocolate, from its origin and history, participating in all the production process, from the harvesting of the fruit, drying and grinding of the seed, also the developing of the traditional drink of our ancestors, and of course enjoying a high quality organic chocolate.

Katherine provided us with a detailed explanation of the process from growing to consuming the cacao. During the tour, she took the cacao from fruit to chocolate. I left the tour with the information I need in order to make more informed decisions regarding the chocolate I love. This is a MUST for chocolate lovers!!!

We hadn't planned to do a Coffee, Chocolate Tour, but so glad we did! We did the Sloth Watching Trail beforehand too. They are on the same property, so for 3 hours and 2 tours, it was a great afternoon combo. Our guide Hexcel was so funny & personable. She really made the coffee making, tasting, cacao and sugar cane making process such a wonderful experience. We tried coffee, hot chocolate, cocoa paste, real sugar cane. It was delicious, sugar overload! The tour is mostly under a roof, so no need for rain gear.

Fabulous tour. Highly exceeded expectations. Our guide Keilor really made the experience. The chocolate was amazing too. My boys (12 and 14) loved it.

Watching the chocolate being made and tasting it was great. Had it been hands on, it would have made it a better experience.

I loved the chocolate tour! We did this on our first full day in Costa Rica as a way to relax and ease into the culture. We are so happy with our choice! Katherine, our guide, was very knowledgeable, funny, and friendly. I loved how we got to taste the many stages of cocoa/chocolate. I'd definitely recommend this tour!

Loved trying the original chocolate of the gods. However they put sugar in it, less authentic but more palatable. Roger said it was the freshest chocolate he ever had.

Excellent tour! We had soooooo much fun - el Chapo Guapo (and Patricia) made our tour - they are absolutely fabulous! You get the whole chocolate process from plant to final product. Well worth the money and time!!!

Our guide Keilor was amazing! He shared his knowledge with us in a fun and engaging way. Also, the chocolate tasting at the end was delicious!!!

This tour was so fun and informative! Elio was a wonderful and charismatic guide, and the plantation was beautiful. And of course, the chocolate tasting! We learned all the steps it takes to make chocolate, got to taste test at every step, and drank the ‘drink of the gods’ (cocoa+chili+vanilla+cornstarch). At the very end there was a buffet line for trying fresh chocolate with a variety of toppings (+Elio made a specialty drink with alcohol and marshmallows that he lit on fire!). All in all, my group had an amazing time and bought a lot of chocolate to bring back with us to the US. 🍫🤍
