Stop for photos of the desert sunset and then head for a Bedouin-style tented camp to enjoy a camel ride, try sand boarding and get a henna tattoo. Know More about this tour

Leave your central Dubai hotel in your air-conditioned 4x4 and set off into the empty desert that surrounds the city.

As you travel, listen as your guide explains Dubai’s transformation from fishing village to gleaming metropolis in just a few decades, and watch how the light gold sands of the desert change color, shifting first to dark browns and then to deep reds.

Then, head off-road into what’s known as the Lahbab area of desert, famous for its rolling dunes. Admire the surreal beauty of the desert and hold tight as your driver heads for the biggest slopes. Then, feel the adrenalin rush as your 4x4 ascends and skids down the sandy heights — feeling the sands slip under the wheels is a serious thrill!

Afterward, stop to take photos of the desert sunset as it casts the dunes in dusky golds and oranges, and then continue to a Bedouin-style outdoor camp nestled amid the sands.

Walk into the lamp-lit camp and enter a beautiful Bedouin tent. Sink into the cushions and enjoy an Emirati welcome of Arabic coffee and dates, and the offer of an aromatic shisha (water pipe).

Then, enjoy your choice of the complimentary activities on offer. Ride a camel, try sand boarding, get a henna tattoo — and if you wish, ride a desert buggy (additional cost) over the sands.

Later, sit down to a delicious barbecue dinner under the stars. Dig into grilled meats, salads, main courses and desserts served with sodas and mineral water, and if you wish, purchase additional drinks (own expense) from the cash bar.

During and after dinner, enjoy a host of live Arabic music and entertainments, including belly dancing and tanoura folk dances, with whirling dervish-style dancers performing eye-popping costume transformations as the spin across the floor.

When the time comes, ride back to Dubai in your 4x4 where your experience ends with a hotel drop-off.

Please note: During the month of Ramadan (June 6 to July 6, 2016) this activity will not include Entertainment and alcohol will not be available.

  • Had a great time. Thanks Viator for a good deal. Our tour guide / driver Shaukat from Rayna Destination Managament was really great. Looked after us.
Will definitely booked through Viator again

  • We had the driver named Imran Khan. For a man that has done this job for 16 years, he certainly still bears the right enthusiasm for the job for every new person. Not only was he organised, on time, had good communication, but he was kind, funny and made us feel safe every step of the way. He made the day much more memorable than it already was. Great guy, keep up the hard work.

  • Terrible in nearly every way!
We booked this trip hoping to see the sun set over the dunes, and this is the only good bit of the trip. Everything else was really bad from beginning to end. On booking I gave my pick up details as required but on receipt of the information I was told I needed to ring to confirm this. After many attempts and a costly phone call from abroad I managed to speak to someone who didn't seem interested. My paper work said collection time was between 2.30pm to 3.15pm so after a really busy morning we were back at the hotel for 2.10pm only to see a man lurking in the foyer, glaring at us as we passed. We were then called by reception to be told this was our lift, but as we had to get ourselves ready, we had to make them wait 10 mins. This was not a good start as there were already two people in the car waiting for us. I later discovered that a message had been sent to me at very short notice to say 'Pick up will be at 2.10pm'. This is not good enough, we were out and about and had other plans. It was also very rude.
We were then ushered into the car without a word of welcome and made to sit at the back of the car. Essentially all the vehicles seat 6 passengers but the two seats at the back are exceedingly uncomfortable and cramped. The journey to the first stop was long and the driver was so aggressive in his road driving that we were all fearing for our lives. He made no effort to talk to us in any way and we felt he was doing nothing to help us to enjoy the experience and no water was offered. When we finally made it to the Red Dune he offered no explanation of what was happening and after about 20 mins one of our party was feeling sick so we had to stop. As she threw up on the dunes he actually was smirking as if this was some kind of achievement. When we arrived at the venue for the BBQ, we got out and he pointed to another guide and said 'Follow him', and that was the last we saw of our driver until the end. We only knew to ride the camel there and then because of other reviews I had read. The food was in fact very good indeed, but the entertainment limited. There were only 2 individual dancers, but they were very talented.

The named company was Happy Travels and listed as Dream Journey Tourism on my receipt. However on the 4 wheel drive the stuck on name was 'Desire Tourism LLC' so very confusing.

In summary, this could have been so much better, but was completely spoiled by the driver.

  • The sunset over the desert was gorgeous with plenty of time for photos, and the dune bashing was FUN and definitely the highlight! Our driver was friendly and professional. The BBQ was ok but the entertainment and henna was very average.. The entertainment was very brief 2x single dancers doing one dance each and the henna tattoo was done messily in about 3-5 seconds. The guide mentioend they try out different desert BBQ companies so hopefully they make a change.

  • The tour was just amazing. The skill from our driver ram was just incredible and made it such fun. Would honestly say it's a must if going to dubai.

  • The best experience for the best price in Dubai. Awesome sand dune bashing, amazing photo opportunities, desert camp very cool with great food, henna painting, sheesha, amazing belly dancing and great atmosphere. Just make sure you dress for the cool evening too.
Choices for camel ride or photos with the falcon. Extra paid for quad biking which was awesome.
    Would do it again!!

  • 3 words!!!! Fun! Fun! Fun!

  • We had a really great time on this trip. Our tour guide Mr Mujeed was very helpful and friendly plus a very amazing driver. He also helped us get wonderful pictures. Highly recommended. One of the best things we did while in Dubai.
My friend and I will definitely do this safari tour again!

  • We were very satisfied with this tour! In a few hours we had many new experiences and the price/quality-ratio was good! Our guide Daniyal made sure that we enjoyed the experience and even that we had good photos of the desert. Dune bashing was so fun and we felt safe, as the drivers are very skillful. Unfortunately our tour fell on the day before the UAE:s National Day, so there was no dancers in the camp holidays start previous day at 6PM. Check the UAE calendar before booking if this is important to you.
