You will make a stop at the Monkey, Sloths, & Birds Rescue Park for you to get close up with some the wildlife on the island. You will be making stops along the way for shopping, and photo opportunity before arriving to the Garifuna Local Village to enjoy their local cuisine and rich history and culture, before heading over to the town of Oak Ridge the village on stilts over the water there you will board your motor boat to tour the mangrove tunnel. Come discover the history, culture and tradition of Roatans native ethnic Garifuna people on the island hearing, learning, and tasting of their local cuisine before exploring Roatan mangrove tunnel that is most important to the Islands ecosystem and wildlife. We greet you with a warm welcome at your ship terminal where you will begins with a city drive through residential areas pass shipwrecks, local schools, churches, hospitals, power plant, fish factory, souvenir and grocery shops, while making your way out to the pristine east countryside of the Island stopping along the way for photo and shopping opportunity, you will be admiring the green lush woods and blue ocean views of the island. You will make a stop at the monkey & sloths sanctuary park for you to pet, feed, hold, and to photograph the animals, before setting off to the small fishing community of Punta Gorda where you will driving through the village to see how locales live before stopping at the Garifuna Culture Center. There you will enjoy hearing and learning about their history, culture, and a demonstration of their native dances and music, as well as their local fare such as casaba bread and handmade souvenirs. After that, its off again to the town of Oak Ridge the village on stilts over the water. There you will board your motor boat to tour the mangrove tunnel. You will be awed while you float through the natural mangrove tunnel were the pirates made their home and hiding spots. You will hear the history of the tunnel by your boat captain and guide. After that if the mood strikes you can stop for a mouth-watering lunch at Hole in the Wall a restaurant over the water. After enjoying your tour, you can make a stop at one our private beach resort for a nice cooling, swim if you like to enjoy their lovely private beach and facilities before making your way back to the ship.
