Know More about this tour

We will pick you up at your accommodation in Cape Town at 8:00 am by a qualified tour guide/driver and transfer you to the Nelson Mandela Gateway – at the Clocktower Precinct in the V & A Waterfront for your boat departure.
Please note that your tour guide/driver will not be joining you on the boat or at the island as there will be a resident sight guide on the island who will give you a guided tour. The ferry boat will set sail to Robben Island. The entire tour duration will be up to 3.5 hours including ferry journey times. When you reach the island, you will disembark at Murray’s Bay Harbour and take a brief walk to the bus that will transport you around the island. We begin in the heart of the city in Adderley street where you will view historical monuments like Bartholomew Dias, Jan van Riebeeck and Zackarias Waganaer Reservoir. Great tour of Robben Island with Ntando Mbatah, former political prisoner of the island. He shared his story of his emprisonnent of 7 years. The guide for the tour of the island was delightful and funny! Our tour guide of the city and table mountain was very knowledgeable and forthcoming with details about the city and the politics of Sourh Africa. A great day!

We had an absolutely amazing time with our tour guide, Wilson! His extensive knowledge and ability to share captivating insights into the history of each site we visited truly made the entire tour outstanding. Wilson's passion for the subject matter was infectious, and his skillful storytelling kept us engaged throughout. His friendly and approachable nature created an atmosphere where we felt comfortable asking questions and engaging in discussions. Thanks to Wilson, this tour turned into an unforgettable journey into the past, leaving all of us enlightened and incredibly inspired.

Alex was very knowledgeable and eager to answer all of our questions. He was personable and we enjoyed his humor. We would him as a private tour guide in Capetown.

We took this tour with Rubin as our guide and he was excellent. The Robben Island trip was taken without him although he pre-booked the tickets and made sure we got on the boat ok, but from then on it was a whirlwind tour. He was able to get us onto the cable car without any delays, as everyone seems to know him. We were lucky with the weather, which was perfect, so we had fantastic views from the mountain and then he gave us a fabulous city tour until it was dark. He took lots of photos of my husband and I, so we have a great record of the day. I couldn't believe how many sights we saw and Rubin went the extra mile to make sure we didn't miss anything. This was a great tour, not least because it was private, with just two of us as guests. It was great not having to worry about anyone else. I thoroughly recommend this tour and especially Rubin as a guide.

Ruben is a great tour guide due to weather conditions we had to change the tour. We have seen so many nice places and received a lot historic information. He is very helpful and he makes sure you are comfortable during the tour. He even reserved a restaurant in a short noticed so we could enjoyed our lunch together.

The tour was excellent. We started off with a ferry ride to Robben Island, where we toured the island itself, learning about it's history. Then we went on a walking tour with a former inmate of the area of the prison where Nelson Mandela, as well as other political prisoners were held. From there our guide, Thomas met us at the ferry dock and drove us to Table Mountain, as he pointed out historical places along our trip and provided some history about Cape town. He was very knowledgeable about the area and was also very friendly. He joined us to the top of Table Mountain where he again provided us with information about Cape Town. He escorted us around the mountain top, stopping at key points to take our picture with the amazing back drop. After table mountain we toured some more parts of the city and he brought us to a local restaurant to eat authentic south African cuisine. It was an excellent restaurant, and the food was amazing.

Superb all day tour with an excellent guide in Thomas who was extremely knowledgeable and imparted the knowledge in an engaging manner. Robben Island was equally impressive and made all that more impactful by the former inmate presenting his own and that of the other prisoners experiences. Highly recommend the overall experience. Table Mountain is an absolute must but the guided knowledge is equally as important.

We had a full one-day tour with our tour guide, Peter. He arrived at our hotel on-time. Peter started by telling us a little bit about the history of Cape Town--it's original boundaries, it's significance in trade, apartheid, etc. He drove us around Cape Town to the old castle. We took pictures underneath the balcony where Nelson Mandela addressed the crowd after being freed from prison. We visited the Malay section with its colorful houses, then we went to Table Mountain for a very detailed tour. We also viewed Lions Head and drove to Signal Mountain, where we watched hang gliders take off, fly over the city and land on the shore. Peter then drove us downtown to get a lunch--a rotie gatsby--which we took with us to eat at the shore park, where we then walked to the nearby dock to take a ferry to Robben Island. Once on Robben Island, we received a presentation by one of the former inmates, and we were able to view Nelson Mandela's former cell there. When we returned, our tour guide returned us safely to our hotel. I can't express the level of professionalism, great manners and patience that Peter exhibited during our tour, and I would highly recommend this private tour to everyone!

The day did not go well.Met tour guide at 8:15,walked to Pier for Robbin Island In a long queue to be informed our tickets were for 11am,not 9am.The tour guide told us they would not be with us to Robbin Island. Over 1 hr.30 mins wasted. The operator assumed the tickets were for 9am. Discussion a quick ad hoc tour of city but to return to Pier by 10:30 for 11am trip to Robbin Island. Frustrated our timetable was now out of sync, this was an 8-4pm tour.Returning to hotel, operator could then not find transport us.If we were to do Robbin Island & Table Mountain ( tickets bought for the cable car as instructed by the tour company £36) we would not finish until pass 6pm.We told them we would attend Robbin Island for 11am trip but cancelled the rest, we had other things planned, last night of our trip to Cape Town. Very dissatisfied with the lack of preparation, no apology. Costings: £341 + £36(cable car) for this experience. I sought out the actual price to Robbin Island (£55 for 2 persons) we asked to be refunded for the rest of the alleged tour. They have refused. Apart from this company booking Robbin Island tickets (wrong time!) have to say doing the sums very overpriced as we walked to and from the Pier (no cost) and no other service from this company. We missed our opportunity to be at the top of Table Mountain, a private tour, hmmmm nothing as they did not travel with us to Robbin Island.I suspect not to top of Table Mountain either. A sad way to end one's holiday.

We were picked up at our hotel by our lovely guide Kevin at 8am prompt. From there we were taken to the ferry to take us to Robben Island. Kevin was there to pick us up on return and we had contact by mobile. We then enjoyed a tour of Cape Town and the day was completed with a fabulous trip up Table Mountain. Kevin met us at the top after we’d had a wander round enjoying the spectacular views. We felt that there was no pressure to rush to get us back to our hotel despite the afternoon getting late. We were a little underwhelmed by the Robben island trip although it was still interesting. But the visit to Bo Kaap and the Table Mountain was the highlight of our day.
