We did Rome in a day- well two highlights anyway! The Vatican museums and church were beautiful with so much history. We saw the colosseum in the afternoon and it was awesome. If you don’t have much time in Rome, I definitely recommend this tour.

These are 2 of Gray Line's tours rolled into one day. If you do not want to deal with timing or commuting, pay for the pick-up and lunch option - this way Gray Line will pace it all for you. The Vatican tour was a bit underwhelming; while you do see many of the major works within the Vatican Museums, with our guide it felt very rushed and poorly paced. In addition, you do not get to enjoy having a tour guide inside St. Peter's Basilica. Lunch is a bit underwhelming in terms of food quality and taste and does not include any water, but the tour does give you a lift to the Colosseum meet up point. Our guide for the latter half of the day was excellent - the group was also only around 8 people instead of 20+ from the morning's Vatican tour and led to more opportunities to ask questions and explore each stop on the tour more deeply.

Both of our guides were very, very knowledgeable. My husband loves the colosseum tour as he is a history buff and I loved the Vatican tour, as art is my interest. Fascinating!!

This is a mixed review of our tours. The first one involved the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. The guide knew her history. Unfortunately, she would not let us stop at the rest room even though it was after breakfast (lots of coffee and orange juice). She did not want to stop at the gift shop (several people in my party wanted to bring something home to their family from the Vatican). Instead she had us hold it until she led us all around the Vatican and stopped at some gift shops outside the Vatican where we were dying to find a bathroom. The person wanted to know our tour director so she could get her commission. Lots of uphill climbing. The second half of our tour, the Colosseum was great. Alexandria was fantastic. she was patient while some of us struggled to climb the hill at the Forum.

Excellent tour doing the Vatican with Rita, really knew her topic. Then had a decent lunch, worth the extra not to have to worry about a cab from Vatican to the Coliseum. The Coliseum included the Palatine Hill and walk through the other ruins. Also Coliseum was a great tour too! .

Alessandra was fantastic! She took her time, didn’t rush us, asked us if we needed water breaks or bathroom breaks. She was very knowledgeable and understanding of the information! I would highly recommend.

Bringing the past in to our reality! The Colosseum, Forum and Vatican were each and collectively more than words can adequately describe. Visiting with a knowledgeable and personable guide takes the experience to an entirely new level. Davide Bello guided us through an entertaining, extremely knowledgeable and awe inspiring visit allowing us to feel and imagine the world as it was so many years ago with a touch of today to bring it all together. The small group tour offered a more personal touch and allowed us to really see, learn and be a part of Rome. Definitely do the small group tours and most definitely request Davide!

The Vatican and St Peters Basilica tour were amazing. Our guide basically added the latter site on the spot, which was a great bonus. The included lunch at a nearby restaurant was tasty and plentiful. The afternoon tour of the Forum and Coliseum was iconic.

Great 2 part tour seeing Vatican City in the morning and the Colosseum in the afternoon. Both Rita & Maria were fantastic tour guides and were very knowledgeable! This tour involves a lot of walking so make sure to bring water and wear comfortable shoes. My only suggestion for this tour would be to provide the participants with water, light snacks and more 5 minute breaks as it is quite a long day.

Part 1: The Varican Rita was the most amazing tour guide. She paid special attention to everyone's needs, especially the older folks in our tour that didn't get around too well. She has a wealth of knowledge and her energy was inviting. My husband and I are not religious people, but I was still almost brought to tears seeing the Vatican museum and church. 10/10 would recommend this tour and guide to everyone that visits the Vatican! Part 2: The Collosseum I forget our tour guide's name, but he was spectacular. His stories really painted a picture of what life was like during the ancient Era of the Gladiators. I enjoyed his story of Romulus and Remus. I enjoyed the Palentine Hill and its views more so than the collosseum, which was a surprise. Fantastic experience! My only suggestion is that if you do both tours in one day that you are able bodied and ready to rock n roll! My husband and I are in pretty good shape and in our early 30s, and even we were exhausted.
