Wonderful day on the lake with Monica in the Bavarian mountains. The Castle looked like another Versailles. The lake is beautiful and our guide for this day was the difference maker. Monica was full of information and a wonderful person to spend the day with. She loves what she does and it showed.

Beautiful island and castle. The bus/boat ride was great. As was the tour guide for that part of the tour Elizabeth.
However, once on the island, we were turned over to another guide who took us to the castle. She had a really bad attitude and acted like she didn't care if we were there or not. Then, once inside the castle, we were turned over to a 3rd guide who took us on the usual rushed tour through the castle. -
This castle was breathtaking. You have to walk through the woods for a little bit, but when you reach it, it's absolutely gorgeous. Our tour guide was ok. I wish our tour guide was more informative, she didn't really say munch unless someone from our group had questions. Our tour guide for the castle was better, she told us more than our actual tour guide for this trip. Still a really good tour though.

Excellent thouroughly enjoyed it would really recimmend it.

Great trip. Castle and grounds were beautiful. Fish lunch on the Fraunen Insel was delicious.

A relaxing day trip form Munich...with a fair amount of queuing for ferries. But THAT is the point in visiting islands in a beautiful lake. With this size crowd, there's a fair amount of waiting for others to use the WC, then search for coffee. But, the vistas are beautiful, and it's easy to see feel a part of the weekenders who long ago made this their retreat to the southern Bavaria countryside.

The Royal Castle of Herrenchiemsee is very beautiful, has an interesting history and is the best part of the tour. The remainder of the tour was a stretch. We had lunch at a restaurant chosen for us, a short visit to a lovely old convent church and then we walked around the small island just marking time. I would have preferred to return to Munich after Herrenchiemsee but we shared the bus with another tour and had to wait their return.

A little over an hour drive from Munich, the city of Prien Am Chimsee houses the Chimsee lake which is the largest lake in Germany. It has a couple of islands in it and this tour went to two of them, the Herren Insel and the Frauen Insel. The former, houses the Herrenchimsee Palace which was one of the three palaces built under the mad king, Ludwig. Although it was never completed, this palace is still beautiful and worth the visit. Majority of the furniture and fixtures of the place are still original and one can learn a lot about King Ludwig through the things you will find inside this palace. The island of Frauen Insel is also equally lovely. The centerpiece of this island is an old monastery still being used by Benedictine nuns. Make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes if you choose to take this tour for there will be a lot walking and a small hike through a forest in this tour. Ran by Gray Line Tours which is based in Munich, I highly recommend this very relaxing tour. Our tour guides Alexandra and Elizabeth were equally competent in leading this tour. Both are very knowledgeable of the place and also made the tour a lot more enjoyable for each and every guests.

Wonderful places included in this tour. Great view of Herrenchiemsee Castle, of the fountains, and a magnificent green and full of flowers Fraueninsel, which must be visited especially in a sunny day. There were good coach services from 'Gray Line Sightseeing Munich', but a very disappointing guide - Barbara, which gave everyone the feeling of a great boring sometimes, like Dory in 'Finding Nemo', it looks like she speaks whale-ish - 3 words/minute. Almost no useful information during the trip see a building site on the left side Oh!, there is a railroad on your left side - really?! - the brochures are more useful than you! We all just had the sensation of being a flock of sheep - the coach driver can count us as well, no other person needed. This cannot be said about other guides from other tours, which were excellent and offer lot of great information.

Nice day on the lake. Fountains at the castle were great looking.
