Know More about this tour

Your friendly local guide will meet you at your central St Petersburg hotel, where your 3-hour walking tour begins. Setting off at a leisurely pace, stroll through this enrapturing city listening to tales and trivia about St Petersburg, its culture and, of course, its legendary art scene.

First stop is the eye-catching Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood St Petersburgs multi-domed showstopper. Modeled on St Basils Cathedral in Moscow, the extravagant cathedral looks so ostentatious that it almost seems out of place in St Petersburg, outshining the more subtle architecture that surrounds it. After stopping for a photo, head inside with your guide to admire its similarly astounding interior.

After a period of neglect, the inside of the cathedral took longer to restore than it did to build. While walking around, your guide will point out intricate details highlighting why this was; see lines of tiny mosaics that cover the walls and its opulent marble floors. Learn about Tsar Alexander II who was assassinated on the ground that the cathedral is built on, and see the canopy that marks the spot of his death.

Head back outside and stroll over to St Petersburgs next cultural gem -- the Russian Museum -- for a guided tour. Dedicated to Russian art, the museum houses a spellbinding collection with more than 400,000 pieces of art that date from the 10th century to the present day. The main building is known as Mikhailovsky Palace and as you walk through it with your guide, see art from just about every genre, including paintings, sculptures and graphics, as well as some of the worlds finest Russian avant-garde creations.

Your tour ends in the Russian Museum, where you can continue exploring independently if you wish.

We spent an excellent three hours in the company of our wonderful guide Elena, her knowledge of history and art was just amazing. The Church of the Spilled Blood and the Russian Museum tour is a must for anyone planning a visit to St Petersburg.

Elena was excellent guide,'very clear explanations

Nadia was incredibly knowledgeable about the city and her English was perfect. When it turned out that the Russian Museum didn't open until 1pm that day, which was when our tour was scheduled to end, she extended the tour and we saw some additional sights before looping back to the museum.

When we finally did make it to the Russian Museum, I was amazed at Nadia's knowledge of both the museum building's history and the artwork in each room -- far beyond what I'd expect for a general city tour.

Highly recommended... if you do one thing in St. Petersburg, do this tour.

Excellent. Our tour guide Nadya is very knowledgeable and punctual. She also speaks excellent English and is fluent in all aspects of Russian history. Her degree from the University of St. Petersburg also has equipped her to be well versed in international affairs. We highly recommend Nadya for your St. Petersburg tour needs.

Excellent guide who showed us many extras. Unfortunately the museum opens an hour later on thursdays, so although we ran 90 minutes over the expecred time, we still had a lot to see by ouselves which was not a big problem. The russian 19 and 20th century art is extremely interesting. Cathedral fascinating, maybe because it seems totally out of place.

The Church of the Spilled Blood is amazing. I was very glad I took this tour. I was on another tour which only included St. Basil's - which is also very nice to see but of the two I would rate the Spilled Blood as a must see.
