Our guide Louis was excellent, his knowledge on the history of the Inca runs deep and he gave us a lot more than just the run-of-the-mill speech when we visited the ruins in Ollantaytambo.

Please save your money and avoid the VIP package and go with the basic package. The VIP package is overpriced and only includes lunch and a 2-day ticket that includes entrance to multiple places but the tour ONLY takes you to Ollantaytambo. Lunch is a buffet which was equivalent to $15 USD and the entrance ticket was $17 USD. That's $32 USD total. That plus the $35 for the basic ticket, is $67. In other words, you're better off buying the basic ticket and paying for lunch and the entrance out of pocket. However, The company must have an agreement with certain shops because the ones we stopped at were outrageously expensive (like several thousands soles) for alpalca clothing. The jewelry place that we stopped at was a waste of time and the prices were also crazy high (higher than in the US for like items). I was on a tour with another guy and we both were appalled by the prices...it almost felt like they were trying to take advantage of the fact that we were foreigners. I'm all for haggling but these prices were just ridiculous. The tour itself was ok and Ollantaytambo is beautiful! However, we had to ask the driver to stop so that we could take photos, as the bus just drove by all the nice viewpoints. I would have much rather had more time to take in the views than spending time in over-priced shops.

Guide Bernardo was exceptional and provided a lot of historical background information about the Incas and their civilisation

Our tour guide Michael was a wealth of information and advocate for the Inca culture and Peruvian people. I can't say enough good things. He could answer every question asked of him, and was a great person to have lead our tour. In addition, one of the stops is on that 130 soles ticket which you can get on the Avenida del Sol tourism office. (otherwise, you'll pay 70 for entrance) It was just a great time. Not rushed, and a great time.

We had the best tour with Michael R and our driver Ignacio. We started with amazing scenic overviews and Michael explaining the rich culture and history of this amazing country and home Cusco and Sacred Valley with us. Michael is extremely smart and knowledgeable and he has a MA degree in Peruvian history. From a young age he wanted to learn and teach others about the fascinating roots of his ancestors. He is extremely smart and a historian at heart. There wasn’t a question he didn’t know the answer too and he knew more and had some more convincing answers than what we had learned before in our preparation for the trip. We went to a rescue center and got to pet and play with a special animal friend Veronica (you’ll never guess what animal it was —-no not a llama or alpaca!) and feed Alpacas and see how Alpaca sweaters are made. We got to shop for real Alpaca and Vicunia clothes and wall art- with not much pressure to buy at all and proceeds help the amazing rescue center. We got to eat local corn and amazing empanadas. The Ollantaytambo ruins were breathtaking! We also got to visit a jewelry coop by local artisan women were proceeds support them (with 0 pressure!!). The majority of the day was spent sightseeing but there was still an ok amount of time to shop. About an hour for shopping out of 7 total hours. You cannot miss this tour - and ask to get on Michael’s tour. We’ve been to many places and he’s going down as one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. Likely the best of all! Michael even went as far as getting us a dinner reservation and recommending where to go to spend our last free day in the area. This was so far the highlight of our trip!

Excellent day. Gary was our tour guide. He gave us good background information about the Inca civilization and navigated us through the sacred valley. Additionally it was great that he was able to drop us at the Ollytatambo station to save us time!

Fredi, Bernardo, and the team go the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of and have a great experience. They put a lot of thought into the itinerary and how to spend the time. They’re also remarkably resourceful problem solvers!

Michael is the best tour guide you can get. It was obvious to us how passionate he was about the history of the Sacred Valley; we learned so much during our tour. We also visited llama and alpaca sanctuary and learned about traditional weaving techniques from local women. This was such an incredible and authentic experience; if you decide to go on this tour, ask for Michael because he made the experience a thousand times more exciting and fun!
