The Safari Float on the Rio Peas Blancas is a great tour for observing wildlife in the Arenal Volcano area.
Peas blancas is near some of the most important places in Costa Rica such as Guanacaste National Park, Santa Rosa National Park and Oros Volcano. Also it is near to the beautiful Salinas Bay beaches like Pochotes beach, Papaturro beaches, Copal beach, Rajada beach and Soley Port. We can pick you up at any of this places.
The day starts off when you are picked up from your La fortuna hotel. After picking up all participants, you will drive about 20 minutes out of La Fortuna to the river bank. Your guide will provide you with a paddle and then instructions for safety and experience. Then you will be on your way paddling downstream in search of wildlife.
The tour takes place on an inflatable whitewater rafting boat, though the river is fairly calm. The river flows at a good enough speed to push you along and the paddles are mostly used for steering or to get across for a better vantage point to see wildlife.
The Peas Blancas River corridor is home to many species of wildlife including howler monkeys, sloths, iguanas, basilisks, turtles, crocodiles, toucans, anhingas, and more. While we cannot guaranty you will see them, the odds are good as they are around.
After the tour you will be returned to your hotel. On the way down the river, we will make a stop along the bank to enjoy some tropical fruits and drinks. The tour includes transportation, equipment, guide, and snack.
